About the Event

Join the seventh annual gathering of the South African Python community, October 10-12 in Johannesburg.

The main conference will take place on Thursday and Friday, with additional tutorials held the day before. There will also be a special full-day tutorial for Python beginners, taking place on Friday.

Andrew Collier, a Toptal developer, will take the stage twice. On October 12th at 12:00pm, Andrew will give a talk titled Bayesian Analysis in Python: A Starter Kit. This talk will provide an entry-level discussion covering Bayesian methods, what happens behind the scenes, writing models, and putting it all together.

On October 10th, 9:00am-1:00pm, Andrew will lead a tutorial titled Introduction to Python for Data Science, Part 1. The workshop will cover a diverse selection of data sets and perform a variety of analyses. Along the way, attendees will build and submit an entry to a Kaggle competition. By the end of the day, you will be functionally competent to venture forth on your own Data Science projects.
