Toptal Speakers Academy Presents: TopTalks

Join us for the next TopTalks event on Wednesday, August 23, at 10:00 AM EDT. These monthly events provide Speakers Academy program participants, or anyone in our talent community, a virtual stage to present their ideas and practice public speaking. So if you’re someone who enjoys TED Talks and webinars, you’ve come to the right place. Speakers have 10 minutes for their talk, and this is a great way to listen to a variety of topics.

1. Lev Yastrebov - Ditch Bug Fixing: Code Faster with Automated Allies
   Coding can either be a thrilling journey of creation or a daunting process of endless fixing and debugging. Prefer to go on a thrilling journey? Then join me to discover how adopting a fresh perspective on tests and a modular approach to coding has allowed me to spend only 1% of my time fixing bugs and the rest on innovative, impactful development.
2. Papuna Gagnidze - Test Automation Made Simple with Chrome DevTools Recorder
   In our quest to improve the quality of digital products, we all have become accustomed to the familiar approach of using tools like Selenium or Cypress, writing countless test scripts, and then tirelessly maintaining and updating them. However, there’s a more straightforward way to achieve our goals. Chrome’s new recorder rejuvenates the concept of test recording, traditionally viewed as ineffective. This workshop will delve into how the Chrome Recorder introduces the idea of disposable tests, smart selector collection, and test expansion through Owloops and other extensions. By the end of this presentation, you will have a new perspective on automated testing that prioritizes simplicity and effectiveness.
3. Jaydatt Desai - Unveiling the Microservices Hype
   In today’s day and age, whenever we begin to think about building a new product we often think to use microservices architecture. But the question is, “Do we really need to use microservice concepts?” In this talk, we’ll explore whether or not we want to leverage all the patterns of microservices or determine if monolith is acceptable.
