About the event

Rubyslava is one of the biggest Ruby meetups in the region, this time they are preparing with some interesting stories about analytics:

  • Jozef Képesi: When NoSQL and cloud becomes too slow

The API at Skypicker does millions of searches per day and they data backend processes hundreds of GB of raw data, daily. This talk is about pushing PostgreSQL writes to the limits, scaling the reads with cascading replication. We’ll show you how to set things up and why you need to run this on bare metal, instead of cloud.

  • Jozo Kovac: Lambda architecture for streaming analytics

At Infinario the team is doing real-time analytics for streaming data from various sources. They’ve build a custom distributed in-memory solution, which can handle analytics of TB of data under one second. How can they handle PB? How do they manage 100% reliable data ingestion? How do they compare to other Big Data stacks and best practices for real-time streaming analytics?

Rubyslava / PyVo is sponsored by JetBrains and Toptal. Get a free yearly licence for a product of your choice: RubyMine, PyCharm or PHPStorm. Win ebooks from Manning Publications and Apress. Drinks are sponsored by Toptal.
