Devbeers is an event that brings together the developer community. That was the goal when we started, and that’s what we do. The event idea started by a similar event in Europe called Startup Beers, which had a similar goal: to help bring together the startup community. Devbeers is a series of events where developers from all communities, like Node.js, Objective-C, Ruby, Java, join us once a month at a different location to drink some beer and talk about programming. Admission is free, and we give out free beer that is paid by sponsorships from the best tech companies around the world. There are no talks, lightning talks, tech talks or sponsored talks. Instead, companies are incentivized to have an employee attend the event and participate with the other developers. Sponsors are also free to distribute stickers, t-shirts or any other form of swag.
It’s a growing event that’s having around 35 developers every month here in Belo Horizonte.
Organizing and curating Toptal events takes a lot of work, but it's certainly rewarding. We welcome all Toptalers who are excited about organizing and executing awesome events in their city. These events are great for meeting tech leaders, making new connections, and helping your community to grow. Sign up here or contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
