Reported directly to the director of Imazi, a control investor in sub-Saharan Africa short-term insurance companies, and worked closely with the board of directors, with responsibilities that included end-to-end management of investment process such as the identification of potential investment targets, research, valuation analysis, managing negotiations, leading due diligence, and obtaining investment committee approval. After the investment, maintained responsibility for oversight of subsidiaries, as well as financial and relationship management.
Identified potential complementary targets for acquisition by Imazi throughout Africa and Europe.
Performed due diligence for acquisition targets in the United Kingdom, Zambia, Ghana, Mozambique, Nigeria, and South Africa, with responsibilities that included managing financial, tax, and legal diligence work streams, as well as third-party diligence advisors.
Performed detailed forecasting for potential acquisitions, most notably on a group-company competitor as well as three large insurers in Ghana, Zambia, and Mozambique.
Worked closely with the CEO to value target companies using various pricing methods, including earnings multiples, discounted cash flows, and comparable transactions. These were included in the investment memorandums to ensure that the valuations align with the stated investment policy.
