Project Coordinator

2021 - 2022
City of Edmonton, AB
  • Created a carbon accounting framework and model for the City of Edmonton's City Plan.
  • Helped the organization move toward a carbon-neutral economy by carbon accounting and reporting according to the Global Protocol for Community-Scale Greenhouse Gas Emissions (GPC).
  • Developed analytical models to evaluate ecosystem services, including carbon storage of land use, urban heat island effect mitigation, groundwater protection, waste management, and restoration of natural areas for developmental projects.
  • Received the award for the best three-minute thesis (3MT) presenter for presenting the work to a client in that form.
Focus areas: Budgeting, Environmental Impact Assessments, Renewable Energy, Modeling, Technical Writing, Options Trading, Trading, Investments, Cryptocurrency

Graduate Research Scholar

2019 - 2022
University of Alberta
  • Developed a data-intensive spreadsheet-based lifecycle assessment (LCA) model for four stable and active earth-abundant photocatalysts. Evaluated lifecycle GHG emissions and net primary energy demand for each photocatalyst.
  • Conducted inventory analysis and impact assessment for each lifecycle stage of hydrogen production. Carried out sensitivity analysis using the Morris method and uncertainty analysis using Monte Carlo simulations.
  • Developed bottom-up techno-economic assessment (TEA) of large-scale hydrogen production using photocatalytic water splitting. Evaluated lifecycle costs for hydrogen production using discounted cash flows for the facility's lifespan.
  • Published two articles: Life Cycle Assessment of Earth-abundant Photocatalysts for Enhanced Photocatalytic Hydrogen Production and The Development of Techno-economic Assessment Models for Hydrogen Production via Photocatalytic Water Splitting.
  • Developed scaled cost curves to accurately derive the cost of hydrogen production using economies of scale. Iterated the model to make it adaptable to be used for 5 to 25 tons of hydrogen production per day.
  • Received recognition from the Government of Alberta and Future Energy Systems for contributions in the field of renewable energy and green hydrogen.
Focus areas: Ecoinvent, Environmental Impact Assessments, Excel Macros, Green Energy, Engineering, Microsoft Excel, Renewable Energy, Optimization, Modeling, Technical Writing, Options Trading, Trading, Investments, Cryptocurrency

Sustainability Scholar

2020 - 2021
Clark Builders
  • Developed an assessment model for real-time tracking of energy consumption and GHG emissions from sustainable construction activities by incorporating engineering and environmental building principles and techniques.
  • Quantified energy and GHG emissions of construction activities for over six pilot projects, both conventional and LEED certified, and included variations due to the size of the project, seasonal changes, and project type.
  • Helped the company adopt mitigation techniques such as green rooftops, reduce the heat island effect, and adopt renewable energy pathways to reduce their carbon footprint.
