Work Experience
Maintenance Engineer
Dow
- Improved operations performance by implementing a rework reporting methodology, saving CAD 3.6 million annually in AU losses.
- Automated material inspection methodology that brought down the seven-step process to two while maintaining reliability, saving CAD 1.2 million annually in inspection, material, and asset costs.
- Developed a VBA-embedded automatic model to evaluate the product's embodied energy and lifecycle greenhouse gases (GHG) emissions based on key user inputs. Saved over CAD 200,000 annually in terms of man-hour costs.
Project Coordinator
City of Edmonton, AB
- Created a carbon accounting framework and model for the City of Edmonton's City Plan.
- Helped the organization move toward a carbon-neutral economy by carbon accounting and reporting according to the Global Protocol for Community-Scale Greenhouse Gas Emissions (GPC).
- Developed analytical models to evaluate ecosystem services, including carbon storage of land use, urban heat island effect mitigation, groundwater protection, waste management, and restoration of natural areas for developmental projects.
- Received the award for the best three-minute thesis (3MT) presenter for presenting the work to a client in that form.
Graduate Research Scholar
University of Alberta
- Developed a data-intensive spreadsheet-based lifecycle assessment (LCA) model for four stable and active earth-abundant photocatalysts. Evaluated lifecycle GHG emissions and net primary energy demand for each photocatalyst.
- Conducted inventory analysis and impact assessment for each lifecycle stage of hydrogen production. Carried out sensitivity analysis using the Morris method and uncertainty analysis using Monte Carlo simulations.
- Developed bottom-up techno-economic assessment (TEA) of large-scale hydrogen production using photocatalytic water splitting. Evaluated lifecycle costs for hydrogen production using discounted cash flows for the facility's lifespan.
- Published two articles: Life Cycle Assessment of Earth-abundant Photocatalysts for Enhanced Photocatalytic Hydrogen Production and The Development of Techno-economic Assessment Models for Hydrogen Production via Photocatalytic Water Splitting.
- Developed scaled cost curves to accurately derive the cost of hydrogen production using economies of scale. Iterated the model to make it adaptable to be used for 5 to 25 tons of hydrogen production per day.
- Received recognition from the Government of Alberta and Future Energy Systems for contributions in the field of renewable energy and green hydrogen.
Sustainability Scholar
Clark Builders
- Developed an assessment model for real-time tracking of energy consumption and GHG emissions from sustainable construction activities by incorporating engineering and environmental building principles and techniques.
- Quantified energy and GHG emissions of construction activities for over six pilot projects, both conventional and LEED certified, and included variations due to the size of the project, seasonal changes, and project type.
- Helped the company adopt mitigation techniques such as green rooftops, reduce the heat island effect, and adopt renewable energy pathways to reduce their carbon footprint.
Executive Engineer
L&T India
- Developed inspection methodologies with advanced technologies by collaborating with internal agencies to improve overall process efficiency by 38%, saving about CAD eight million.
- Saved around 15%, i.e., $3.5 million cost by improving the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) monitoring and reporting of the $24 million engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects.
- Managed the delivery of seven significant and multidimensional projects ranging from CAD 10 million to 160 million equivalent by successfully sufficing the clients from environmental, governance, and quality perspectives.
- Collaborated with stakeholders from Japan to design strategic plans to achieve climate resilience outcomes and targets while taking into account the company's overall ESG plan.
