Project History

USSD App for One Acre Fund

Managed the requirements gathering, design, development, testing, and roll-out of multiple USSD services on the application.

Over 2 million farmers operating in areas with limited internet connectivity use the USSD application across 10 countries to receive and pay agricultural loans. The app was rolled out during the global pandemic in 2020 and resulted in the organization registering a 33% growth and 94% repayment of loans.

I was the product manager, and my role involved:
• Gathering requirements.
• Designing user flows.
• Leading on testing.
• Managing the roll-out of the app and training.

Point of Sale System for Retail Outlets

Led the design, development, and launch of a point-of-sale system that is used in over six countries to service over two million farmers.

One Acre Fund has a rural retail program as part of its program offerings. This program is a combination of physical shops, a point of sale, and a digital payment system. The point of sale records farmer information, sales, and loans and manages shop inventory.

Nutrition Information IVR Service

Led the design, development, and launch of an organization's first-ever IVR service that over 200,000 farmers in Kenya use to access nutrition information.

Nutrition Information IVR Service is an automated phone system built in-house that allows users to access helpful nutrition information in a timely manner at a very low cost.

I was the product and project manager in charge of managing the different stakeholders involved, including the development team, customers, and service providers.

Mobile Based Digital Fetoscope - BabyScope

https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/7455857?arnumber=7455857

Completed and tested, with great success, the proof of concept for a mobile-based digital fetoscope—a device used to measure fetal heartbeat. Also, published and presented a paper at the 2016 IEEE-EMBS International Conference.

BabyScope is an Android-based digital fetoscope used to measure and monitor fetal heartbeat. The device has a data acquisition circuitry developed using a conventional Pinard horn and a custom software application resident on the Android platform. The application incorporates intuitive algorithms for data acquisition, analysis, and display of the fetal heartbeat, graphically and numerically.

I managed the entire product lifecycle of Babyscope, starting with strategic planning, and worked with the engineering team to design and test prototypes.
