Project History

Access Manager

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XENw5X3YKfY

Owned the product from ideation and MVP launch to its current scale of rostering over 18 million students and teachers.

Access Manager is a bulk rostering and product licensing tool that simplifies the process of entitling students and teachers to the full catalog of McGraw-Hill Education digital products. I served as the product owner from the design stage in early 2016 through the MVP launch four months later. I oversaw its massive scale-up in 2018 to handle over 18 million users and become the single source of bulk roster data for all of McGraw Hill's online products.

LAUSD Grade Sync

Designed and implemented a single-sign-on, content deployment, and grade sync solution for Los Angeles Unified School District's learning management system.

I led the solution that allowed McGraw Hill's newest content to be delivered and scored directly in Los Angeles Unified School District's learning management system. After devising the technical solution, I led the planning and execution of the entire project across three scrum teams.
We had an MVP working by the spring term that gathered feedback from users, while we completed the second phase of the integration. I personally trained their customer success representatives on how to implement the solution and spearheaded the documentation process prior to rolling it out district-wide for the 2019-2020 school year.
The Angular UI relied on Golang and Node.js microservices and was designed in a standards-based way so that it could be easily rolled out to more customers without additional development work.

McGraw-Hill Identity Management Service

Delivered an MVP solution for identity management for all of McGraw-Hill's digital products.

I served as the product owner for the effort to create an identity micro-service that could be used for user and system authentication for legacy and next-gen applications within McGraw-Hill's entire ecosystem of software offerings. I gathered requirements from all existing digital products and relevant customer stakeholders to create a RESTful OAuth 2 solution, which would accommodate all current and future authentication and user management use cases. The service launched successfully in three months and now handles identity management for the entirety of McGraw-Hill's online platforms.
