Paperless Office Document Management System

Saved millions on document warehouse space costs by making document availability digital based on roles and access rights. Simplified the workflow for regulatory compliance checks and mandatory yearly audits. Built the smart search using metadata.

The paperless office is an initiative to digitalize policy, claims, and payment documents, so documents are made available at any time across geologically distributed operational branches and simultaneously accessed in a controlled environment by defining roles and access rights.

The documents are digitally stored with tags, categories, and unique IDs to perform a smart search. This change also demanded a new NoSQL MongoDB system for storing files to work in hybrid mode with online transaction processing (OLTP). I was tasked to redesign the whole customer journey and application workflow to take advantage of the new document management system (DMS) in place. I developed an inbuilt auto file retention feature configurable to be compliant with regulatory bodies, which saved millions of dollars every year spent on warehouse expenses and logistic costs and improved operation turnaround time (TAT) in several KPIs.

Automated Insurance Underwriting System

Implemented and automated the underwriting process for an insurance company. I built a rule engine to perform checks and validations against policy terms and conditions, followed by integration with the client database and websites using APIs.

An auto underwriting system reads policy proposal data received in a CSV file format from the client system, performs insurance underwriting, and creates a policy. To achieve this, a rule engine is built to execute data received through a sequence of the policy rules, terms, and conditions and generate a confidence ranking.

The ranking system also captures failed records with one or multiple reasons applicable and tags with possible solutions to send back. Once the files are received, an ETL operation is performed. Post the data stored in a staging table aligned to rule engine sequencing. Post the data executed through the rule engine to validate each proposal against policy terms and conditions and complete the underwriting by generating policy numbers and responding successfully. In case of failure, a JSON response with specific reasons for the error and suggested options for quick fixes are generated and sent back, building the rule engine.

Migrate Monolithic LMS Tool to Microservices

Created a microservice migration plan by ideating and planning a roadmap. Initiated and created Epic feature-wise APIs mapped to business rules with milestones, logical groups, and prioritization, improvising business rules with deployment strategy.

This initiative was to overcome the technical limitations of the products' monolithic architecture and significantly impacted the latest changes. I spearheaded the microservice architecture migration initiative hoping to improve solutions and reduce impact and development efforts by converting business rules to APIs.

I planned and executed the end-to-end implementation of the migration. A result-driven, highly successful initiative that transformed the squad to be more agile because of the flexibility the product has achieved. I helped deploy the same application in two different geological locations in the US and Europe and complied with GDPR on every release.

The application performance improved over time, and integrations were made possible.

HR Admin and Payroll Processing

Spearheaded mission-critical HR application development from scratch, from ideation and planning to execution. This product comes with heavy integration with payroll engines and other systems. Did a successful MVP release in July 2024.
