Project History

Retail Analytics Software for a Fortune 500

Enabled over 2,000 vendors of The Home Depot to collaborate online with their merchants to optimize the sales and inventory of their products across the US and Canada.

The Home Depot partners up with the best vendors across the globe to maintain its number one position as the biggest and most reputable home improvement retailer. Vendors collaborate closely with The Home Depot merchants to optimize the sales and inventory of their products. However, it is challenging to be on the same page when people use different tools and datasets.

MY ROLE
Engaged with the merchants and vendors to understand their needs and provide a unique tool to help them better collaborate. The solution is a retail analytics software allowing both groups of users to create real-time visual analysis.

The visuals include:
• Trend lines to compare the sales and inventory for any period.
• Automated generated insights to proactively take action to spot sales and inventory anomalies.
• A map to perform regional analysis for all the US and Canadian stores.
• Top-performing SKUs and categories of products.
• Tracking new product launches and promotions.
• A drill-down capability to identify the root cause of the increase or decrease in sales.
• A mobile application to let field representatives walk in the stores and analyze on the go.

Machine Learning-driven Software to Analyze and Predict Customer Journeys

Offered to large retail, banking, and entertainment companies a platform ingesting millions of records from several systems every day to provide a 360-degree view of the consumers and patrons to the merchant. The company was then acquired.

When you visit a store and make a purchase, go on a merchant website, visit a product page, add products to the cart, abandon the cart or make the purchase, or receive an email and open it, all these events can be captured as part of the customer journey. Companies have a hard time tracking and understanding consumers' behaviors because the use of various tools and data is disparate. Understanding the consumers and patrons can help merchants better engage with them with the right message at the right time.

MY ROLE
Aggregated all data points into one software to offer a 360-degree view of the consumers to the merchants. The software can create segments based on past events. An email editor was also included in the software so that the merchant could send personalized emails at any time to their consumers based on their behaviors. Segments were also automatically generated using machine learning. The type of segments would include customers likely to attend an event, subscribe to a plan, renew a mortgage, buy complimentary or recurrent products, or churn. The tool was offered to large eCommerce, travel, entertainment, and banking companies, including clients like Roots, Scotiabank, and AGO.

Warehouse Management Software Used in Several European Countries

Led the development and rollout of a warehouse management multi-platform with desktop, tablet, and mobile applications shipping 60,000+ items per day in Europe.

Westwing is the European leader in inspiration-based home and living eCommerce. Think Wayfair, but their European competitor. The company delivers everything from small items like candles and cutlery to big and bulk items like tables, sofas, and beds. Every country in Europe has its own legislation and specificity when it comes to customs and transportation. The challenge was to migrate all existing systems managing the warehouse operations and inventory across all eleven European countries into one software. The company also had the ambition to go public. This required proper inventory tracking at any time and anywhere to have accurate financial statements.

MY ROLE
Visited all warehouses to meet the warehouse leaders and employees to have a holistic view of their operational needs and pain points. Owned the roadmap and its execution by collaborating with a scrum team. Rolled out the new software in Germany, France, Spain, Italy, and Poland and reduced the global logistics cost by 70%.

Mobile App to Share Free Stuff in Your Neighbourhood

Developed and released this side project mobile application to help people in need and avoid creating waste and contributing to the landfill.

Give away used items, spot-free stuff on the street, and divert waste from landfills. The Freecycle app uses the latest phone technology to find items nearby. The interactions are in real time, and it is a cloud-based solution that auto-scales. The application was developed with Angular, Ionic, and GCP Firebase, including Firestore, real-time database, cloud functions, storage, authentication, hosting, cloud messaging, dynamic links, app distribution, and analytics. It's available to all Canadian residents on the App Store and Google Play for free.

Mobile App to Analyze Food Items to Discover Their Impact on our Environment and Health

Coded and released this solo side project to offer access to and awareness of our environmental impact based on our eating habits.

Climate change is a hot topic more than ever. Resources are used to produce food, and CO2 is emitted into the atmosphere. But what food impacts our health and planet the most negatively? The Foodalyse mobile application attempts to answer that question by offering nutritional facts and environmental impact scores on thousands of food items, ingredients, and drinks. The goal of the app is to provide transparency in food so that people can educate themselves and decide how they can better adjust their diet for their health and the planet.

The application was developed with Angular, Ionic, and SQLite. It is available internationally on the App Store and Google Play for free.
