  • Direct-to-customer Commercial Insurance Platform
    Led the design and development of the UK's first direct-to-customer question-free commercial insurance platform (a reduction from 32 to 4 questions for a full commercial combined policy).

    Commercial insurance policies are typically bought via brokers or over the phone. I led the design and build of the world's first online commercial insurance product, which reduced the number of questions needed to be asked to return a quote from an average of 32 down to 4.

    I achieved this by implementing machine-learning models built on-top of external datasets. I designed a core data platform that managed the multiple external data calls needed to run the machine-learning model. Using basic information (address + company name), the model would then return a price to the user on the front end via a RESTful API, in under two seconds.
    Building and launching this product suite involved managing six different streams of work, implementing rigorous agile and kanban methodologies to ensure all product teams were aware of dependencies and held accountable.
    The platform was designed, built and launched, including passing FCA regulation, in under 12 weeks.

    Designed and launched a medical data annotation platform, growing organic users to over 300 actives in under four weeks and reducing the cost of labelling from $2 to $0.60 by implementing machine-learning models to optimize tasks.

    Scope is a data-labeling platform to help companies build large training sets of medical image data. Doctors performed the labeling and were paid per task. Medical images require specific interfaces and specialized tools that we built internally. Companies submit their data via API and labeled data was returned to them via an asynchronous endpoint.
    I led the user research, design, and build of the platform, including the personal onboarding of our first 50 doctors and securing our first paying customer of the service. The platform was built as secure by design, ensuring that data never left a company's server environment and was kept secure at all times.
    I designed a UX using a machine-learning model that offered up the best-suggested label to users, speeding up the task by almost 3x and improving accuracy while also reducing cost. I also added gamification to the platform to allow doctors to understand how well they performed against other medical professionals. This drove increased usage and also serves as an educational tool for doctors.
