Project History

Communication Platform and Tooling | Robinhood

Led three product teams in building the first communication platform to manage over 50 million weekly push, email, and in-app notifications.

Robinhood is the top retail trading app in the US. As a senior product manager, I grew the communication product team from 2-25 engineers, adding product design, legal, data scientist, and operations. During that time, we built a unified infrastructure layer to handle communications and analytics for all teams. We also created internal tooling that helped with special communications during urgent situations like the GameStop and AMC.

New Forecasting and Notifications Systems | Google

Led the Google Ad Manager video team to rebuild our forecasting and notifications tools so companies like Disney and Spotify could better sell their ad inventory.

The Google Ad Manager video team is helping customers sell their ad inventory. Before this project, our forecasting tools, which help predict how much inventory you might be able to sell, were off sometimes by almost 20%, which could be a considerable amount for big companies.

With my team, I led the research, testing, and development to drop the inaccuracies down to about 5%, saving millions of dollars for some companies. We also built a new custom notification system so that companies could set up their thresholds and triggers to be notified about inventory issues and fulfillment predictions.

New Revenue Stream Launch | Owlcam

Led the research, business operations, design, and product management of an FNOL feature for an AI dashboard cameras startup that led to a significantly lucrative new revenue stream.

I was the product lead at a company called Owlcam. Before its acquisition by Amazon, it was focused solely on producing dashboard cameras for cars. The cameras had AI with whom you could talk, a 4G connection, and a unique way to stay powered inside the vehicle 24/7.

After the initial launch, we quickly noticed we needed to increase revenue, as just selling dashboard cameras was not enough. During a conversation with the insurance company AAA, I learned about FNOL. Insurance companies would pay hospitals, tow trucks, and even repair shops to quickly alert them when one of their members had an accident. The quicker they learned of the accident, the faster they could direct their member to partner auto shops or car rental services, saving both the member and the insurance company money.

I collaborated with AAA and our internal for three months to build an FNOL feature into the product. We paid drivers to drive thousands of miles, built new algorithms into the camera to distinguish bumps from crashes, and even partnered with a customer support center to provide services in case of an accident. We launched the feature and eventually 10x revenues, bringing on more insurance partnerships.
