Project History

Beats Music Product Launch

https://www.theverge.com/2014/1/20/5319322/beats-music-vs-spotify-dr-dre-streaming

Led the design and development for the launch of Beats Music iOS app, which was acquired by Apple four months after launch, and is now rebranded as Apple Music.

I joined Beats Music as the first product manager in July 2012 and spent the next 1.5 years building the product from the idea and vision stage to its ultimate launch in January 2014.

I was the product owner for multiple features across the app on all platforms, including The Sentence (an algorithmic radio), discover, search, and artist pages. I was also the product owner for the iOS app, overseeing all aspects of iOS development, submission to the iOS App Store, and marketing on the app page. Beats Music hit number two on the Free Overall iOS App Store rankings—number one for music—and was acquired by Apple four months after launch in May 2014.

Facebook 2016 Year in Review Personalized Video

https://about.fb.com/news/2016/12/facebook-2016-year-in-review/

Led the design and development of Facebook's 2016 personalized Year in Review video, which highlighted photos and events from users' Facebook posts that year and shipped out to 800+ million users worldwide.

I worked on Facebook's 2016 personalized Year in Review video, which pulls in content from a Facebook user's feed and incorporates it into a minute-long video that shares those personal highlights. The personalized video can be posted to their feed or shared directly with friends through Messenger. In this role, I worked closely with engineers, designers, in-house creatives, user researchers, content specialists, product marketers, public relations specialists, and the internationalization team to bring the feature to more than 800 million Facebook users in over 150 countries around the world.

Facebook Personalized Birthday Videos

https://www.theringer.com/2016/7/28/16047098/facebook-birthdays-business-5ddb9d73732f

Led the design and development of Facebook's birthday videos which aggregate birthday wishes from a user's closest friends and family into a Facebook-branded birthday video.

As the product lead for personalized videos, we came up with the birthday video idea to drive users' sentiment and engagement. On the day after a user's birthday, they would receive a personalized video with music and animations featuring birthday photos and posts from their top friends and family. I worked closely with Facebook's in-house creative agency to produce a live-action video incorporating Facebook photos, posts, and comments. I then worked with our core team—including designers, engineers, and data scientists—to insert the video at the top of the users' feeds on the day after their birthday. I also collaborated with multiple product teams across the company to coordinate birthday-focused efforts. We worked with the internationalization team to get the product translated and conforming to the cultural norms of more than 150 countries. At its peak, birthday videos went out to over ten million users worldwide each day and were the best performing product in terms of driving user sentiment.

Amazon Kindle Exclusives

Launched the original exclusives program for Kindle Direct Publishing, which eventually evolved into Kindle Exclusives and Kindle Unlimited.

I worked on the original exclusives program for Kindle Direct Publishing, which evolved into Kindle Exclusives and Kindle Unlimited.

Kindle Select was a program designed to incentivize Kindle authors to publish exclusively on the Kindle platform. In exchange, they would receive free promotion and a more significant share of royalties from sales. I was charged with researching and writing up the business case, creating the program's terms and conditions, and working with designers and developers to build the product. I presented the business case to the VP of Kindle Content, Russ Grandinetti, and received the green light on the product.
