Project History

Clinical Mobile App for Patients, Nurses, and Physicians

Reduced hospital readmission rates by 20% by leading cross-functional product development and go-to-market operational roll-out to over 2,000 clinics domestically.

I owned the product strategy, roadmap, iterative development, and go-to-market commercial launch for a consumer clinical health portal. Ultimately, the goal was to increase patient adoption and maintain high user retention for the solution.

To achieve success, we knew the solution had to be intuitively designed. Nearly all users were not in the high-technology adoption demographic, providing real value, cost or time savings, and rewards like showing and celebrating progress.

The portal was made available nationwide across more than 2,000 clinics. Major patient features included:
• Ability to view and track lab results and set goals.
• Ability to view treatment data and leave notes.
• Ability to capture or input treatment data both manually or IoT with specific machines.
• Ability to view Rx and order medications to the patient's homes.
• Shipment tracking of medications.
• Caregiver authorization and access.
• Ability to upload documents and images.
• Authentication via biometrics.

Remote Patient Monitoring Strategy and Roadmap

Created a multi-year roadmap to create a differentiated long-term roadmap for a niche healthcare Fortune 500 client.

A Fortune 500 organization approached me to help their organization create a multi-year roadmap to enable better remote patient monitoring capabilities. The engagement terms were to answer the following critical questions:

1) How and why did other healthcare leaders in the specialty space execute their remote monitoring program? Phasing of the program and long-term strategic positioning. Summary of users like end-user and secondary users key levers and rationale for the decisions made, including device, BYOD, and feature prioritization.

2) How are other non-healthcare companies investing and executing similar programs?

• Traditional mobile and web applications examples
• Paired sensors model and examples
• Considerations for both approaches

3) Final recommendations for clients with learnings from competitors and technology advancements. I performed industry and market research to create a phased multi-year roadmap for the client. Deliverables included a detailed written position paper and a more condensed PowerPoint presentation.

Content Management and Authoring Platform

Reduced time to market for print and digital courseware creation by 30% through proprietary in-house authoring and content management platforms.

This product was designed and developed for our internal and external content teams. The organization recognized that better throughput and faster time to market could be a competitive advantage. The end goal was to ship a product that enabled writers, editors, and learning designers to perform their workflows online.

Features included:
• Author and edit narrative content
• Author and edit assessment content
• Track changes and live collaboration
• Preview layout mode
• Media library and content management
• Content data modeling and (metadata) tagging
• User and role-based permissions
• Versioning, inheritability, and traceability of assets and outputs

Consumer Product Strategy | Hospital Shoppable Services

Led the commercial product strategy research and validation for consumer-facing shoppable services offering.

A pair of entrepreneurs reached out to me to help polish and craft their commercial product strategy. The offering was a new possibility due to recent regulatory legislation.

We identified the following key business questions as the scope of work:
• What opportunities exist given the regulatory updates outlined in the new Transparency in Coverage ruling?
• How does this impact providers, insurers, and consumers?
• What actions does each party need to take?
• How does each party stand to benefit?
• How does this differ from existing price transparency tools today?
• What, if any, potential competitors exist currently or will exist?
• How does this create opportunities for vendors or third parties?
• What critical features are needed to ensure the product and service are functional or actionable to end-users?
• Who are the potential customers for the product mentioned above and services?
• What are the potential barriers to entry for a vendor or third-party vs. insurer and provider?
