Project History

Public Recreation Web Application

I owned the full life-cycle of product development at a Y Combinator startup and helped design, coauthor, and launch a progressive web application in three months.

Public Recreation is a fitness-based consumer platform that was in the Summer 2018 Y Combinator incubation batch. I was hired as the first employee tasked with owning the digital platform design, launch, and management.
I managed the entire life cycle of the digital product experience. I set the long term product roadmap goals that were grounded on key business outcomes, focused on customer adoption and engagement in new markets, and measured against success criteria metrics. A large portion of my role was also in writing detailed product specifications. I would talk to customers and prospects daily, gathering detailed qualitative and quantitative usage metrics, which I would translate into actionable and impactful user stories and prioritize in our backlog.
While at Public Recreation, I transitioned the company from using a collection of point solutions to a fully proprietary web application in three months with 100% feature coverage. I also helped scale this web app to handle our 25% month over month user growth during our busiest seasons, resulting in thousands of unique website visitors each day. When not tackling my regular product management duties I would assist engineering by writing and contributing production-ready code.

ClearSlide Engagement Dashboards

https://www.clearslide.com/product/engagement-analytics/

I oversaw the buildout and release of a set of KPI dashboards that saw 95% adoption across all customers within four weeks. These metrics helped prove the value of the ClearSlide investment to key customer decision-makers and buyers.

ClearSlide is a Sales Engagement tool that tracks sales interaction and activity metrics. Metrics include information on the number of unique opens of an email and how long content inside the email was viewed for. This is a crucial functionality for sales managers and executives to use to calculate and justify the return on investment for their purchase of the product.
I uncovered a bug in the reporting logic that on occasion falsely attributed views to incorrect parties. Concurrently, my team had the initiative to release new aggregate analytics dashboards and KPIs that were crucial for decision making customers. This required a restructuring of how data was stored and associated. In order to tackle both items, I strategized with engineering management and concluded that creating a new back-end architecture with the new storage hierarchy, data layer associations, and bug fixes was necessary. I ensured the smooth launch and adoption of the KPI dashboards by coordinating a press release with our marketing team. In measuring our launch success, I found that 95% of our customers were actively using these metrics within a month of release. This uptick in usage made our product more invaluable to the purchasing decision-makers.
