Project History

Digital Directory for Print Advertisers

Led a cross-functional initiative to build an in-house directory product that saved >$1 million per year in vendor payments and enabled the sale of digital products to print customers.

The local directory was designed to provide an online platform for businesses that traditionally advertised in print format. This project made several enhancements over an existing third-party offering and saved the company the vendor cost, which exceeded $1 million/year. The scope of this product's first version was solely to attain feature parity with the vendor offering and cut the associated cost.
While impactful to the business, the project was isolated from the company's digital initiatives. I identified an opportunity to expand the directory into the first offering to bridge the gap between the print and digital customer bases. Print ads were already being digitized and associated with listings. By adding progressive enhancements to the listings, we could incentivize business owners to authenticate with Google, which was the critical step to open the door for the digital offerings. This upgrade also created a path for partner sales initiatives, wherein partnered associations would be provided white-labeled directories which they would seed with their member lists.

Chrome Extension for Website Instrumentation

Spearheaded a quick win Chrome extension that enabled the sales team to close 25% more business and sped up a frequent customer success task threefold.

ThriveHive had a marketing platform that offered a full suite of marketing capabilities to small businesses. One of the product offerings was the ability to hook up a customer's pre-existing marketing site to the product's analytics. To do so, it was necessary to insert a piece of code into the site. Before the creation of this Chrome extension, it wasn't possible to hook up Wix sites, which accounted for approximately 25% of the leads that sales saw. More often than not, the case that the Success team needed to set up the code snippet manually and personally QA each site to be sure it was set up correctly.
The new extension was designed to resolve the issue that had prevented instrumenting Wix sites. It also automated as much of the success process as possible. The Success team reported that it sped up the process 3x and that it covered about 90% of all circumstances.
