Project History

A Peer-to-Peer Currency Exchange Platform

Led the development of the web platform, contributing to doubling the number of new users from 200,000 to 400 in one year.

A 24/7 B2C financial business providing currency exchange solutions for people traveling abroad, based on a person-to-person approach.

The project is a web application built with PHP, AngularJS, and Node.js. At first, the goal was to handle all the client's back-office data manipulation processes, from internal user management and financial reports to customer-centered actions.

Later on, the client entrusted the team with developing and improving its front office web application.

Mara started as a junior product owner on the back-office platform, with little knowledge of product development. Within a year, she was assigned to work on 3 platforms: back-office, web, and mobile (iOS and Android).

Hard work and passion were the keys to successful results: a better understanding of the domain knowledge led to better backlog management, empowerment from stakeholders, and better product suggestions and decisions.

In the last year, Mara was assigned as a product manager for part of the web development. The most significant accomplishment is the vouchers feature, which translated into two months of refinement with stakeholders and users, six months of development, and increased revenues.

An Omnichannel Solution for Call Centers and Sales Teams

Led the product development of multiple features that increased revenues by 10% and acquired new clients. Re-organized the development process according to the Scrum framework and helped with coaching during the transition from Kanban to Scrum.

The project is a French B2B company offering voice and email management solutions for contact centers integrated with their business tools. The goal of the project was to develop a cloud-based solution for contact centers with new features. Bug fixing was also an important part of the project. CRM integrations have played a major role in the last months of the project, including SalesForce, HubSpot, and others.

As a product owner, Mara's responsibilities included taking over the product department as all former PMs had resigned. Mara was the only product person for two months, managing stakeholders, business process, client demands, engineers, and the product itself. She put in place new organization processes meant to improve the backlog prioritization process and the client-stakeholder-product department relationship.

The most significant accomplishment at the product level is the launch of several critical features, which helped increase revenues by 10% and acquire two new clients.

Also, Mara was involved in workshops and story mapping sessions with clients.

As the product owner of the back-office product, I led the optimization of all internal department platforms. I managed the direct relationship with end users and stakeholders of the platforms and translated their wishes and complaints into revenue goals.

Financially, I helped put in place a platform where the experts can manage the entire process of currency exchange rates and fees, and in terms of support, I led the optimization of old and new processes which increased user engagement by 30% and reduced complaints by 40%.

I also led the development of an API flow and later on an API portal which helped the company develop partnerships with main actors in the traveling sector, which increased the number of new users by 40%.
