Project History

  • Mapping Neighbohood Streets using Computer Vision and Cloud Computing
Led the product management operations and launched a toolkit to quickly map neighborhoods using a distributed crowd-sourced network of individuals. The method speeds up mapping a city region from months down to days.

Mapillary Driver and Mapillary Capture Projects help you get complete street-level imagery coverage of a location by dividing it into smaller capture tasks that a team of drivers can work on simultaneously. The toolset consists of two parts. One is an administrative dashboard on the web to manage the project and see the total progress. The other is a mobile app called Mapillary Driver, which drivers use to pick up their assignments and see where they need to map.

  • Effortless Mapping with Customized Dashcam
Developed the Mapillary Dashcam, a high-resolution and high-performance dashcam explicitly optimized for effortless mapping. The 4K camera with end-to-end encryption captured over 20% of new images in the Mapillary platform within six months.

Dashcams are the perfect type of camera for hours of imagery capture without needing much interaction from the driver. The custom dashcam makes street level mapping more efficient, enabling both individual mappers and entire fleets to scale up fresh imagery collection for better maps everywhere.
