Project History

Digital Product Portfolio for a Socioeconomic Research Firm

Drove the development of a digital portfolio of analytics products for a leading socioeconomic research firm, which led to a multimillion-dollar acquisition by a global research agency.

The client was a leading socioeconomic research firm with demographic and quantitative data sets that were put together using public data and its own research. It was the only firm offering this data at multiple location granularities.

I was engaged by the CEO to play a key role in building the digital portfolio of products. I built a business case for location analytics, identified key opportunities, and got buy-in from the leadership to set up a team and build the project.

Subsequently, I assisted in hiring a team of architects and engineers who worked on data architecture at the back end to support Tableau as a user interface and as an API framework. As the product manager, I played a key role in defining multiple use cases around location analytics, including catchment analysis, in-store stock optimization, and demand analysis.

In a multimillion-dollar buyout, the firm was acquired by a leading global research firm that had rich retail supply-side data.

Product and Sales for a Machine Learning Solution for Renewable Energy

Played a key role in closing deals worth $2 million+ and building a pipeline of $10 million+ for the next-gen UX for an AI/ML-based analytics suite for the renewable energy industry.

I was part of a two-member advisory to the CEO of a $250 million IT products and services firm. We focused on improving its product business performance over the course of two years. In collaboration with the CPO and leadership, I was instrumental in building the firm's renewable energy offerings by defining the product roadmap, core value proposition, and design. The company had an initial version of the product and one customer, but they struggled to win more business.

I conducted a comprehensive market analysis and user research to discover key problems in the industry and presented the findings to leadership. Then I used those insights to guide the product team on their roadmap of ML solutions for renewable energy. I also assisted in hiring a product marketer and crafted the positioning, value proposition, and outreach program with him.

The existing product had a bare-bones UX, so I worked with a freelance designer and chief architect to define the next-gen UX. I also helped hire and train sales teams and assisted in engaging prospects. My work was instrumental in the firm winning contracts to provide monitoring and analytics for wind and solar energy for three firms, which greatly improved their market standing.

Business Case for an IoT Platform

Built a business case for creating an IoT platform for the CEO of an IOT products and services firm. The work helped the CEO crystallize their focus areas.

I scoped out market trends, competitive players, and internal product strategy in a business case for an IoT platform. The client was a firm that was looking to productize their offering in this space.

Based on the business case, the client realized that they would have to invest heavily in marketing and productization to harness the opportunity. The business case helped them decide to not proceed which, in turn, helped the CEO focus efforts on areas where they could gain traction and build the business.
