Self-learning application for two-player board games

This application was created by me for my diploma thesis in 2010, using C#, .NET, Linq, MsSQL and Lua. The application consisted of three parts: an agent, which controls the learning process and the flow of each game, a database where the learned information is saved, and a game written in Lua. Given enough time to play a game, the application would basically a value to every possible move in every possible game state. After the application has instructed to exploit this knowledge, it could win every single game.
In practice, this application can learn to play and win any kind of two-player, turn-based board game.
