An HR analytics data warehouse to bring together all the different sources of employee-related information into one platform. I was the architect and developer of the data warehouse. I liaised with the business analyst and the human capital management team to understand their requirements and created a platform in which the data from multiple source systems—payroll, SAP success factors, learning, and development system, Udemy, and others—was cleaned and consolidated in one data warehouse. This empowered the data scientists and analysts to create models, analyze employee behavior, and generate employment and retention strategies based on the insights gained from this. I also established a new visualization standard with the team using Power BI as the technology of choice. We trained the team in the technology and worked together to build multiple dashboards for executives of the company.

Discovery started as a medical aid service provider and has since grown its portfolio into banking, insurance, and wellbeing. Each business within Discovery has an established business intelligence function.
I provided consulting and development services specifically relating to OLAP cubes and reporting.

The average data warehouse today is evolving, extending, and modernizing, to support new technology and business requirements, as well as to prove its continued relevance in the age of big data and analytics, using tools on-premises or in the cloud.
For these data warehouse modernization projects, I brought together all types of data at scale easily and gave insights through analytical dashboards, operational reports, and advanced analytics for all users. The modernization solution included a combination of a data warehouse and data lake to manage and analyze structured and unstructured data.
In addition, it included a move from on-premises to the cloud as well as a hybrid solution.

I performed transportation and logistics analytics procedures to analyze and coordinate the logistical function and supply chain to ensure the smooth running of operations in a timely and cost-effective manner. It involved the extraction of knowledge from transportation data and measuring the performance of transport logistics. Data is easily available in this industry because the systems in place are already providing more data than is currently being used.
We used BI and analytics to establish a value-driven logistics network that aligned the supply and demand and included:
• Advanced transportation business intelligence analytics
• Route planning and optimization
• Just-in-time inventory optimization
• Condition-based
• Equipment maintenance
Transportation and logistics analytics helped my clients to:
• Leverage fleet management solutions to effectively address seasonal peaks in demand
• Streamline operations, processes and improve productivity
• Ensure adherence to schedules
• Perform on-time delivery analysis
• Analysze the root cause of operational challenges

I provided Power BI reporting solutions to a number of clients including PPO Serve, C Steinweg, Transport Holdings, Sachar Mobile, MTN, Discovery, ICAS, Rand Merchant Bank, Teljoy, Anglo Gold Ashanti, Healthforce, Michelin Tyres, Brolink, Medicharge, among more.
These assignments included the following:
• Development of data models and solutions in Power BI along with the dashboards
• Building data warehouses and cubes along with developing dashboards in Power BI (complex and multiple data sources)

I provided formal classroom-style training on the following Microsoft SSRS, Microsoft Power BI (Dashboard in a Day).
I provided training sessions (8-10 staff members) for the following clients: Bidvest Protea Coin, Brolink, Hulamin, Multichoice, Nashua Communication, Sun International, Tsogo Sun, and Discovery Corporate Services.

Tasks Accomplished:
• Rand Merchant Bank: Provided reporting relating to Basel II and Basel III
• Nedbank: Generated reporting relating to Basel II
• GroBank: Designed the regulatory reporting data warehouse
• Standard Bank: Provided FICC reporting
Regulatory reporting involved the submission of either raw or summary data by these banks to the regulators to evaluate its overall health, thereby determining the status of compliance with applicable provisions
The automation significantly improved business processes related to regulatory reporting by streamlining activities that were highly labor-intensive and time-consuming—enabling these organizations to complete thousands of hours of manual regulatory reporting work in just minutes with little or no human involvement.

The delivery comprised of the full data value chain from:
• Data collection, preparation, and analysis to visualization on behalf of these organizations
• Developing a portal and platform that brought together the components needed by data scientists
• Enabling and maintaining data science platforms
