Experience

Migration from Datacenter to AWS

The project was to migrate the entire database server stack from the existing data center to AWS. We migrated around 200 database servers from standard replication to cluster replication running on Amazon EC2 instances. We implemented a high availability solution so that when we lost ec2 instances there was no downtime.

Custom Database Monitoring

Led the migration of database monitoring solution from Nagios to custom monitoring writing in Go. The solution was based on Prometheus metrics. We implemented it using the tech stack provided by the company.

Query Optimization and Index Fine Tuning

For an application that was having database performance issues, I optimized queries and did index tuning reducing the database load by 90%. The query response time went from 10 seconds to 10 ms. I also implemented read-write query splitting to utilize the replica server.
