Full-stack Drupal Developer in Asheville, NC, United States

Fairfax County Public Schools is the largest school system in Virginia and the tenth-largest in the United States, with 200+ schools and centers serving 186,000 students. To keep this large community of students, parents, teachers, employees, and the general public informed, FCPS sought to build out an integrated network of 195 school websites using a singular codebase with the ability to deploy updates and information centrally. FCPS was a client of my agency, Forum One.

Harnessing the content creation and syndication powers of Drupal with Pantheon Custom Upstreams, I spearheaded the development of a unique platform that enables FCPS to deploy, manage, and update this network of school websites from a common codebase and to easily share news, events, and alerts from a central source.

I co-led the development of our solution for the FCPS system, working closely with Pantheon's leadership to devise a powerful solution that met a number of critical needs for FCPS. I utilized a set of custom and contributed Drupal modules to scaffold each school site, starting from a Pantheon Upstream, and used command-line tools to deploy multiple sites at once.

Led the migration of the flagship website of the National Association of State Workforce Agencies from a decade-old proprietary CMS to Drupal 8. Working with a designer and content owners, I served as the primary architect, developer, and project manager.

I created a suite of custom Drupal 8 migration plugins, using the Drupal 8 Migration API to migrate the legacy data structure from SQL to Drupal 8, using source, process, and target migration plugins. I also developed a number of custom solutions using Drupal 8 Groups, Drupal Commerce, and custom module solutions.

As the primary lead and project manager, I led this process using the Jira platform to log and detail all functional requirements and served as scrum master during regular stand-up meetings and check-ins. Working with a third-party vendor, I oversaw the work of three other developers, ensuring that they were informed of technical requirements and stayed on task.
