The most amazing...
...project I've worked on was a service for real-time measurement of space plasmas around the Earth by analyzing radio signals.
Work Experience
Researcher and Software Developer
Eotvos University, Budapest
- Developed a neural network-based specification and prediction model for the spatial distribution of cold plasma around Earth from sparse measurements and other global time series.
- Developed and implemented an algorithm in MATLAB for automatized detection and a wave inversion model for specific kinds of natural radio signals.
- Optimized the code by rewriting performance crucial parts into C/CUDA (leading to 100x speedup) for running on GPU clusters.
- Wrote and deployed a control environment and job scheduler for running the various parts of the detection and inversion code on different hardware in real time.
- Formulated a statistical model to analyze the processed dataset, leading to scientific results published in peer-reviewed journals.
- Maintained correspondence and gave several public presentations.
Algorithm Developer
Hungarian Academy of Sciences
- Developed a new, machine learning-based inversion framework for modeling the sources of the geomagnetic core field.
- Employed neural networks/image segmentation for initial parameter estimation and genetic algorithms to find optimal solutions.
- Wrote up the results in a manuscript that was accepted for publication in a scientific journal.
Researcher (Contract)
InterMap, Ltd.
- Designed and implemented a point-to-point shortest path algorithm for computing driving directions.
- Designed and implemented data structures for path query and cartographic generalization, necessary for displaying maps and driving direction information.
- Provided market research in the framework of developing a new GIS product/service.
Software Developer
DesignSoft
- Refactored existing code to improve performance and responsiveness.
- Oversaw the creation of scenarios for teaching physics concepts.
- Responded to tickets and implemented feature requests and bug fixes.
