  • Facebook Live Project -

The Annenberg Foundation was asked in early 2016 to be part of the initial Facebook Live launch. As one of the initial 12 partners for the launch, Annenberg reached out for my expertise in building scalable live video streaming applications and infrastructure. With over 125 global live video streams running 24x7, the solution was built out using a micro-service architecture on continuous integration and continuous deployment platform. Since the initial launch, the platform has grown to over 200 live streams spanning four continents built on top of Kubernetes.

I led the DevOps initiative from the ground-up and implemented Terraform for infrastructure as code. Kubernetes is running on Amazon EKS and DroneCI was used for CI/CD. I built out the CI/CD pipelines and custom Drone plugins for EKS written in Golang and implemented Prometheus Operator using infrastructure as code for alerting and slack integration. Grafana custom dashboards were also implemented in code. Lastly, I created custom bootstrap scripts for disaster recovery
