Financial Aid Automation

Kaplan University needed to automate the packaging of students' financial aid packages. They looked into many technologies, and their student management system vendor began development on an upgrade to accommodate the request. This effort would take years, and the business needed a solution as soon as possible. After weeks of proposing solutions, I was able to pitch a solution using the SQL Server back-end solely. I was able to modify the 3rd-party database by adding tables, stored procedures, and functions to completely automate the packaging of students' financial aid. This was the biggest savings the company had ever had in one project.

Data Feed Automation

I developed several processes to automate the importing of data feeds from banks. Clients needed their financial information imported from external banks and imported into our financial reporting system. I used SSIS to import files, parse the data, convert it, and upload the data into our client records.

Failover Automation

The client used a combination of mirroring and log shipping as a DR solution, and failing over to DR took over four hours. I used PowerShell and T-SQL to automate failovers and reduce the time to only four minutes.
