The most amazing...
...project I've worked on used Intel’s RealSense camera to build glasses that help visually impaired people make sense of the environment around them.
  • Web Developer
    MANGO Connects
    2016 - 2016
    • Built the Ruby on Rails back-end and the front-end for the MANGO website from scratch—taking the product from zero to beta on my own in just four months.
    • Worked as the main developer of the startup throughout the 12 months I worked there.
    • Created a dashboard where users can manage their contacts and see what they have to do next.
    • Built a message builder that coaches users step-by-step on how to write great networking messages.
    • Worked with a team to get MANGO ready for launch by streamlining the user experience, in my last few months there.
Technologies: Ruby on Rails, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, MongoDB
  • BlindSight (Development)

BlindSight Glasses give people with impaired vision the power to recognize friends, read a sign, and sense objects around them—among other things. They can use the Intel RealSense Camera for facial recognition, text processing, and detecting objects in their vicinity. After the glasses process the visual information in their environment, an earpiece alerts them to what the glasses "see". That way, after a trip to the store you can check out with your favorite cashier, check your receipt, find your keys if you drop them, and avoid hitting your head on an overhanging shelf on the way out.

I was responsible for implementing the text-reading and depth perception features.

Technologies used include C++ and Intel RealSense Camera.

  • Papramaki (Development)

This is an Android application that tracks user spending habits. Users can set a budget for a period between one and twelve weeks, enter their expenditures, and analyze the way they are spending their money as the budget period progresses.

I was responsible for building the Rails API and for making the API calls throughout the app. I also worked on data visualization.

Technologies used include Java, Android SDK, and Ruby on Rails.

  • Aviato (Development)

While modern aviation can bring us to the farthest corners of the Earth in a short period of time, we know that flying is also a stressful experience. Aviato is an Android app that helps users make the most of their time by helping them get to the airport only when they really need to. Just enter your flight number and we will show you how to get to your destination on time and most importantly, stress-free.

I was responsible for the design of the app and the integration with the Google Maps API.

Technologies used include Java, Android SDK, and the Google Maps API.

  • Hejmo (Development)

Hejmo is a project that I developed with four other students during the Macathon 2015 (we achieved secnd place). We were trying to make the process of finding off-campus housing and furniture less stressful and time-consuming for other college students from Macalester.

I was responsible for building a responsive front-end and helping with the back-end. I am currently rebuilding the back-end using Ruby on Rails.

Technologies used include HTML, CSS, jQuery, Grails, Ruby on Rails, and MySQL.
