NashvilleDelivers.com

http://nashvilledelivers.com
A custom website for a restaurant and retail delivery service client who wished to extend the functionality of their current restaurant delivery website, which was running on the DataDreamers platform. As the sole designer and developer, I worked directly with the client to design and develop a custom website that pulls in a list of available restaurants along with each vendor's logo and URLs to each of their online ordering menus. It displays them on the site based on the user's current zip code and vendor category (e.g., "restaurant delivery" or "pet supplies"). I created an Airtable Base containing all of the website data (vendors, categories, and URLs), which the website accesses via API to display the information. The Base is accessible to the client, which allows them to add, update, and remove vendor information as needed.

ShuttlePage.com

A fully responsive website describes the ShuttlePage service and facilitates the signup and order processing for customers needing a custom home page for their restaurant delivery service business. I worked as the sole designer and developer to create a portal that captures user preferences for their new home page. It includes an interactive design preview, processes payment via Stripe, sends the user a thank you and welcome email, and sends me a notification email with all their preferences.

Arthur's Creative Events & Catering

https://www.arthurscatering.com
After being supplied with a set of designs for this project, I first built a library of reusable CSS components, which I then used to compose full HTML templates for the company's marketing website redesign. My work also included fully mobile and responsive behavior and all necessary JavaScript functionality.

The site runs on Craft CMS, so I was also tasked with designing the structure of the admin area. I was in charge of organizing the site and structuring the templates.

Kingside Moves

Kingsidemoves.com was built for a local moving company, which provides exceptional service and care and that did not previously have a web presence aside from a Facebook page. The site was built first and foremost to legitimize their company, help them stand out among competitors, and help establish trust with potential customers. It also serves as an easy-to-use portal for general information about the company (e.g., pricing, moving tips, etc.)

The site is built on the Squarespace platform and began with one of the stock templates. After several discussions with the client, a content plan and site layout diagram were put together, and the client supplied the content. After adding the content to the site, any necessary graphical elements were prepared in Photoshop. From there, custom CSS and JavaScript were added to the template to accomplish the necessary aesthetics and functionality and ensure that the site's responsive behavior was airtight. The client was extremely satisfied with the result and continues to let me know how much he appreciated me working with him.

Wisdom - Multi-location Landing Page

Chowcab.com is one example of a commonly requested service by a restaurant delivery service with locations in multiple cities. Since one customer can have various Wisdom websites (one for each major location they have a presence in, which, in many cases, will overlap delivery areas), a centralized landing page provides a common entry point for all customers, allowing them to select the location that best suits them.

The focus of this product is to display the major company information clearly and cleanly and allow customers to easily choose their location as well as find answers to frequently asked questions. The design is fully responsive and adapts perfectly to devices and screens of all sizes. It was built with HTML5, CSS3, and jQuery, with the newer iterations being built as single-page apps via AngularJS, mainly to reduce development time (for an example, see http://thedeliver-ring.com).

Wisdom - Modern Customer Website Theme

https://sample.datadreamers.com/
Designed a completely modernized and updated default theme for the customer-facing website provided to restaurant delivery services on the Wisdom software platform. The design was created to respond to customer requests for a newer theme that reflected current design trends on the web.

In addition to all of the functionality, responsive behavior, and interactivity of the previous default theme, the newer theme features several custom AngularJS components, which reflect the platform's gradual shift from vanilla JavaScript/jQuery into a modern, single-page client-side application. It features enhanced animation (where appropriate), a new section that automatically shows a set of featured restaurants, and a "meet the drivers" component that highlights the delivery drivers on duty.

Wisdom - Legacy Customer Website Theme

Designed and built a brand new default theme for the customer-facing website provided to restaurant delivery services using the Wisdom software platform (c. late 2012/early 2013). The theme needed a fresh, modern look while still being built as six separate template partials, each displayed in a separate HTML frame. The platform has since abandoned the legacy HTML frames, and the design has been rebuilt to be fully compatible with modern browsers.

The design is also fully responsive, with no sacrifices in site functionality, and includes the rearranging of components on the page via JavaScript to best adapt to both desktop and mobile browsing environments without maintaining a separate mobile website. It is also built to incorporate custom color choices that can be set by the delivery service (which also generates other interpolated colors, accomplished via Sass), as well as to accommodate dynamic content supplied by the delivery service.

WISDOM Software Platform Website

Designed and built a sales website for DataDreamers' flagship restaurant delivery service software product, WISDOM. Provided all design and all HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (including several small AngularJS elements). The site is fully responsive for optimum display on mobile devices.

DataDreamers, LLC

Designed and built a PR website for a restaurant delivery service software company entirely from scratch, including content. The site is fully responsive and has been implemented with vanilla HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

North Grove Counseling

http://northgrovecounseling.com
Provided a local family counselor with a WordPress-based website for a new counseling business. Designed the overall site structure and content organization and delivered a custom CSS for any site elements/layouts that were not automatically provided by the theme. Adapted theme styling to be fully responsive to allow the site to be accessible on mobile devices.

Chem International

Designed and built a set of responsive HTML and CSS templates to redesign a local chemical supply company. Provided assets to back-end developers for integration into the custom platform.

The previous site design can be seen at: https://web.archive.org/web/20110202155342/http://chem-international.com/

FX Magner Selections

Fxmagner.com was designed and built in a relatively short amount of time and was built to serve mainly as a networking tool for the owner of FX Magner Selections, a wine company. He needed something small and simple that would work on mobile devices so that he had something to show anyone he would be meeting at an upcoming trade show.

I designed and built the site to first and foremost showcase his brand identity, highlight several of their top wine selections, and provide all of the company's contact details for any interested parties.

As previously stated, mobile device friendliness was a necessity, so most of the work was focused on ensuring that it was rendered correctly in mobile browsers.

Prides Deli

http://pridesdeli.com
The owner of Prides Deli in Beverly, MA, was looking for a complete redesign for his business' website (the original design can be seen here: https://web.archive.org/web/20111127115749/http://www.pridesdeli.com/).

I worked with the owner to provide a completely updated content outline (including their entire menu in HTML form), a completely custom design, and an administrative back-end to update content. For that reason, the site is based on Ruby on Rails. After putting together static comps of the home page, interior page layout, and individual component designs, I translated the mockups into live templates. The site features a contact form, an employment application form, and randomly cycling customer comments in the sidebar of several pages.

Floatbreak

I was commissioned to design and build Floatbreak as a proof-of-concept application, designed to explore the feasibility of a centralized marketplace to match boat owners with anyone looking to charter a boat. The idea was to connect boat owners with potential renters (usually on vacation) and charge them a premium for access to their contact details.

The site is a Ruby on Rails application, which shows the information on several boats in two different locations. As the sole designer and developer for the project, I didn't build any static mockups in photoshop; once I came up with the overall UI structure, I went straight from wireframes to HTML templates, designing in the browser as I went. I also used Twitter Bootstrap to facilitate necessary functionality when needed. Mobile-friendliness was also an essential aspect of this product, so responsive design was an area of definite focus from the start of the project.

Pass It On Potluck

Pass It On Potluck was built as a custom web app that served as a supplement to a Le Creuset Round French Oven (RFO) that was meant to be sent from person to person, one after the other. The site is designed to allow the receiver of the RFO to write a journal entry about their experience with the product and upload photos of them using it. Once they finish using the RFO, the site would generate a FedEx shipping label to "pass it on" to the next person. Once the RFO made its way around the country, the aggregated experiences would be compiled and published for everyone to see.

My role in the project was to provide the designers with the overall structure of the site and the functionality it needed to have so that they could design for it. Once I received the designs, I translated them into static HTML templates. I then integrated them into a Ruby on Rails application, which handled all the application logic I built while the designers created the graphics. I also enhanced the site's design with a "swinging tag" animation, which was triggered once on page load, and then again on hover.

Le Creuset Love

Le Creuset Love is a marketing site created for Le Creuset Cookware, a client of Ferebee Lane + Co., designed to allow customers to share photos and experiences they had in their own homes with Le Creuset cookware.

The site is based on a WordPress template, which I was able to customize to fit the project's needs. Specifically, I integrated the necessary graphical elements supplied by the graphic designer, added custom CSS to the pre-existing theme, and added several custom components (e.g., the color picker in the contact form). I also provided UI design direction on several aspects of the site as the designer was creating initial comps for client review.

Hub City Delivery

Hub City Delivery, a local restaurant delivery service, needed a complete redesign of their website, which was running on the Wisdom Restaurant Delivery Service software platform. I provided a custom design, which I then implemented as HTML templates.

The original website platform was composed of six different framesets, which meant the design for each template had to be juxtaposed in such a way as to give the site the appearance of being one consistent design, as opposed to six separate compartments. The platform has since been revamped and is no longer made up of different frames, but the custom design has been adapted to remain up to date and is still being used by the company.

Mundihomes.com

http://mundihomes.com
Mundihomes.com was a completely custom design that was put together for a green home builder in the Washington, D.C. area. I was the sole designer and developer for the entire project, with the exception of the provided video and illustration content. Over several months, I worked with the client to translate his business goals and brand identity into a robust, engaging, and informative point of contact for potential customers.

The project began with a full proposal, followed by wireframes and static mockups, finally brought to life as a live site. The finished product featured custom web fonts, a universal footer contact form, and several interactive/animated components.

Bellstrike

Bellstrike was a platform for small nonprofit organizations designed to provide them with a very easy-to-use, turnkey web presence tailored to suit the needs of small nonprofits. I worked with the owner from the start, putting together the initial outline for how the product would be structured as a whole, creating wireframes of the necessary pages and site components, and providing the initial design direction for the customer-facing site templates.

Once the project began to take shape, my long-term role was primarily focused on developing the front-end of the original templates and the additional templates that were added to the system as the product grew. I also provided user experience input on and implemented new system features over time.
