The most amazing...
...project I've been involved is the design and development of a platform to analyze medical administrative data which helps doctors to extract new hypotheses.
Work Experience
Lead Data Scientist | Developer
Amalfi Analytics
- Developed ANIS: a platform that allows medical doctors to analyze different electronic health record datasets.
- Created a new method to analyze medical trajectories; the method finds and represents temporal and non-temporal relations happening during a period of time such as the evolution of a disease or an intensive care unit stay in a hospital using data from Hospital de Sant Pau (Barcelona) and MIMIC III MIT's dataset.
- Optimized the hospitals' emergency departments. This was a government-funded project in which we predicted if an arriving patient would get admitted or not and which resources he or she would need (X-rays, specialized doctors, and the like)—reducing the stay in the emergency department by up to a 30%.
- Provided advice and coordination between the developers and students while implementing their research in our tools such as ANIS.
- Interviewed and worked directly with medical doctors and hospital managers in order to analyze their needs and design and develop useful solutions.
Data Scientist | Back-end Developer
thethings.iO
- Designed and developed data flows for IoT data to allow customers to send and analyze the data produced by their own devices.
- Analyzed data from important customers including data from swimming pools and elevators.
- Scrutinized data from Facebook ads to detect market segments and target customers.
- Made contributions the core API design and implementation.
- Participated in the first iterations of the front-end.
Research Student
Polytechnic University of Catalonia
- Developed software to analyze electronic health records. The software found typical comorbidity and polymedication patterns as well as outliers in the disease-prescription combinations.
- Improved an algorithm that detected parked cars from magnetic sensor data.
