Design Analyst and SAP PI Technical Lead

2009 - 2011
National Grid
  • Integrated legacy systems with SAP Plant Maintenance (PM) as the central repository, ensuring all transactional data flows into SAP PM. Performed a complex integration to set up SAP communications with the Syclo and Click applications.
  • Interfaced the SAP PM system with the legacy emergency work order maintenance system for daily work order updates into SAP, exchanging supplier, maintenance work order, and inventory data in file format with legacy systems.
  • Used SAP Business Process Management (BPM) to develop effective solutions for communicating with multiple systems while creating work orders in SAP PM. Utilized IDoc sender adapter for IDoc packaging, which is provided in SAP PI 7.1.
  • Built mapping using RFC lookups for file generation and record-splitting logic in almost all interfaces. Created adapter modules for file header and footer validations that throw an alert to the customer through email with the error file attached.
  • Developed an interface that executes a synchronous call to SAP PI, which then performs the split based on the postcode and directs the call to the database system using SAP BPM.
  • Handled SAP Exchange Infrastructure (XI) troubleshooting, resolving production XI issues, caching errors, and transport conflicts. Wrote Java user-defined functions for complex mapping logic and shell script in interfaces to move files at runtime.
  • Ensured all transports were in proper sequence using the Change and Transport System (CTS+). Executed a migration project to move the back-office interfaces running on SAP PI 7 to the front-office PI 7.1 EHP 1 system.

  • Met with team members to check the status of the assigned objects. Gathered requirements for the interfaces in the initial blueprint phase.
  • Configured RFC destinations, ports, and partner profiles' logical systems to transfer the data to SAP XI. Mapped the segments with the XI structure using XSLT mapping and Stylus Studio.
  • Set up the XI system and defined the system landscape, sender and receiver agreements, and sender and receiver queues. Monitored the messages and troubleshot issues.
  • Acted as quality coordinator and ensured all interfaces met Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) standards.
  • Prepared interface designs for the functional solutions, scope of work, and estimated time and effort. Performed UAT, testing the complete data transfer cycle from SAP to XI and to KPMG's retain server.

Mundi Pharma

https://www.mundipharma.com/
Handled all 3rd-party logistics and EDI communications from SAP S/4HANA using SAP CPI.

I was involved in architecting and designing workshops to ensure the requirements were digested into the corresponding specifications before handing them over to the system integrators (SI). I worked closely with the SI onshore and offshore teams of around 20 members to deliver solutions to the business within budget. I also handled all EEMEA and ASPAC integrations and remediation works raised because of the global system that was set up.

British American Tobacco

http://www.bat.com/
Led the delivery of various projects involving systems for manufacturing execution, trade marketing, logistics execution, and warehouse management, including integrations with SAP SuccessFactors, SAP HR, CRM applications, Coupa, and SAP ECC for various global markets.

Around 80 odd markets were involved. I collaborated with an 80-member team to set up the global template for integrations with local market legacy systems, staying within the tight budget allocated for the integration stream. I also conducted workshops, working closely with respective business stakeholders to capture and convert all the requirements into the desired formats per SI needs.

Additionally, I owned the delivery of various greenfield projects using the SI, with very few hiccups. I was also part of the COE integration team, which was a massive feeder in establishing the practice and its team.

Centrica

http://www.centrica.com/
Designed and delivered interface solutions within the One British Gas estate as part of the service technologies team.

I articulated IT solutions by collaborating closely with the business. I suggested and presented the advantages of new technologies that suited the business. Additionally, I worked closely with SAP UK in upgrading to new versions and designing interfaces for the Centrica landscape, which was quite a challenging task involving a lot of customizations.

National Grid

http://www.nationalgrid.co.uk
Handled integration solution delivery as a SAP PI lead, designing and developing high-performing interfaces that considered the emergency SLAs using the Advanced Adapter Engine.

I analyzed XI designs and redesigned interfaces to avoid performance issues. I also integrated legacy systems with SAP PM and ensured that all transactional data flowed into it as the central repository. Additionally, I performed a complex integration to configure SAP communications with Syclo and Click.

KAUST

http://www.kaust.edu.sa/
Managed the XI/PI implementation, providing weekly task status updates to the service delivery manager.

I oversaw object allocation to team members and status calls from team leads and conducted team meetings with members to monitor the status of objects assigned. I was also involved in gathering requirements for the initial blueprint phase interfaces.

Additionally, I set up RFC destinations, ports, and the partner profiles' logical systems to transfer the data to SAP XI, mapping the segments with the XI structure using XSLT and Stylus Studio. Next, I configured the XI system, defining the system landscape, sender and receiver agreements, and sender and receiver queues. I also monitored the messages and handled troubleshooting. Finally, I ensured all interfaces met CMMI standards as a quality coordinator.
