    • Served as a master data provisioner for a team of Lean Six Sigma Black Belt consultants. Developed a wide range of analytical tools based on Microsoft Power BI and Azure Data Platform.
    • Teamed up with industrial engineers in designing key performance metrics for client projects. All were savvy in statistical theory and Excel modeling. From this base, I created Power Query transformations and dataflows yielding Power BI data models.
    • Worked with client managers and executive staff (using Power BI data models) to identify core metrics, integrated into DAX calculations yielding actionable KPIs. Followed by a series of agile sprints, converging on effective visualizations.
    • Developed Power BI workspaces and "app" deployment procedures (ALM) for each client project. The "golden" data models were published as certified datasets within the Power BI online service. Mobile Power BI tiles were also deployed.
    • Created mobile power apps to assist in timely data collection at client production facilities—allowing us to provide NRT (near real-time) reporting to identify production downtime or quality issues quicker than with the existing reporting channels.

    • Worked for a company that was rapidly expanding via mergers & acquisitions with no effective BI strategy, a grab-bag of Tableau and Qlik reports based on unmanaged Excel/CSV. I created a strategy to unify BI reporting based on Azure and Power BI.
    • Worked with a team of seasoned M&A consultants who leveraged their expertise to identify key metrics at each level of the organization, from C-suite all the way down to 150 operations centers. We converged on nine actionable KPIs.
    • Created a series of rapid prototypes for dashboards and linked reports. These were focused on four critical perspectives, mirroring the four levels of management structure within the organization (C-suite, division, region, operations).
    • Conducted with our research time a series of working sessions to review the prototypes. We iterated through multiple variations based on customer feedback. Power BI allowed us to update and deploy app updates on a highly responsive daily cycle.
    • Built Power BI dashboards and reports that were based on the core nine KPIs. Each was distilled from data inputs sourced from multiple databases, manual Excel workbooks, and web API services.
    • Architected an Azure SQL database that would serve as a lean data warehouse: a true relational data warehouse design, yet built rapidly because we skimmed only KPI-driven data and provided essential drill-down, i.e., data-driven and action-oriented.
    • Worked with their DBA to define and implement ETL and ELT processes, as appropriate for each of the data sources. These included a dozen databases across turnkey industry-specific operations systems, CRM, ERP, accounting, payroll, OSHA, and HR.
    • Staged the data at their MSP data center, as close as possible to the source. Implemented data cleansing and conformance mapping based on specifications I developed with their DBA. A data pipeline was established to push data to the Azure DW.
    • Completed R&D, then engaged in a series of user acceptance testing. Primary feedback was mostly related to the presentation. Power BI allowed us to respond immediately with no-code adjustments, along with a few low-code calculation adjustments.
    • Presented the Azure and Power BI solution at the annual all-staff meeting. During the rollout, tablets were distributed to each consumer of the Power BI app. The system was deemed fully operational within the next month with significant savings.

The website is an Azure web app, the UI is implemented using C#, backed by an Azure SQL database, and includes dozens of Power BI embedded reports and visualizations.
