Automation of Client's Internal Tool

My customer had an internal tool developed some years back in an outdated Java framework. As the lead, it was very hard for me to get the resources to fix it. The client was losing confidence in management and panicked even though the tool had been stable without a single issue for over six years.

I decided to view the whole thing as a challenge. I learned the coding standards and proposed a change to PL/SQL, completing the entire task in just a month with some help from junior team members.

ETL Code Performance Issues

A pair of projects I led to improve a client's ETL process. They had to wait for over a day to see the latest data and were facing temp space issues at the database level. I optimized the temp storage issue by breaking the complex SQL queries into smaller and more feasible ones and by reducing unnecessary inserts into staging tables. The speed issue was fixed---or at least sped up by over 75%---with a parallel execution of a procedure in Oracle.
