Experience

  • Placemeter D3.js Dashboard (Development)

I built the dashboard and associated REST API for the traffic-measuring startup, Placemeter. This system pulled time series data from our Cassandra database and customer data from our MySQL database. The API was built on the Django REST Framework, and the dashboard data visualizations were built with D3.js.

I also built and managed the staging and development servers for this project, using CloudFormation, Elastic Beanstalk, and several other AWS services.

  • CLOUDS Raspberry Pi Control (Development)
    http://www.yorgo.org/artworks/clouds

I programmed a series of Arduino and Raspberry Pi boards to create physical animations in the CLOUDS installation by Yorgo Alexopoulos. These microcontrollers controlled a large number of small screens and LED displays, creating the effect of futuristic sci-fi server racks.

  • Mobile Bidder and Ad Server (Development)

I designed and built a system that handled requests for bids on mobile ads. The system handled up to 30,000 requests per second, served the associated ads, and tracked the ad campaigns for impressions, clicks, and conversions.

  • Infone SMS (Development)

Working with UNICEF, my team built a tool that could incentivize remote data collection by pushing out questions via SMS to a network of participants and provide mobile payments for respondents.

  • mcgarrybowen Digital Holiday Card (Development)

I built the holiday card website for the mcgarrybowen ad agency in 2011. This card was listed in several articles as one of the best holiday cards of the year and worked on virtually any platform.

Years later search results for "mcgarrybowen holiday card" still show this card as the top results.
