The step-by-step process included:
• Compiling the servers list installed with VMware Tools, creating a deployment list, and updating in SharePoint for access by the project team.
• Segregating the servers by UAT, development, non-production, and production environments.
• Identifying the server patching group that required a VMware Tools version update during the patching maintenance window, saving multiple maintenance windows and unnecessary downtime.
• Identifying the tools to update the version: namely, the Tanium package, Windows PowerShell scripting, and manual remediation.
• Creating a Tanium package and executing it on UAT and test servers to test whether the package and script were updating correctly or not.
• Sending an email notification to shareholders and other interested parties.
