Across technology and research, Weijia has spent 15+ years building quantitative user experience research and large-scale data analysis. Her toolkit centers on statistical sampling and weighting, survey methodology, experimentation, causal/statistical modeling, and executive storytelling to turn data into actionable strategy and product/service improvements. While at Meta, Weijia drove product decisions through large-scale measurement systems and survey analysis.

Work Experience
Staff Quantitative User Experience Researcher
Meta
- Led end-to-end UX research for Facebook and Instagram (Search, Reels, Meta AI) to uncover JTBD, pain points, and behavior drivers, using large-scale log analysis, surveys, regressions, and path modeling to uncover user needs and behavior drivers.
- Modeled large-scale survey and behavioral data (SQL, R, Python) to evaluate product impact and measure experiment outcomes via rigorous A/B testing.
- Defined core topline metrics and goal-setting frameworks that directly guided search quality improvements across major product surfaces.
- Directed external research vendors in multi-platform benchmarking studies, creating a search quality framework that uncovered critical competitive gaps.
- Engineered scalable in-product survey systems (e.g., inline intercepts) to capture real-time sentiment and link perceptions to downstream behavioral telemetry.
- Triangulated quantitative behavioral modeling with qualitative mental models and usability insights to maximize the validity of product recommendations.
- Partnered cross-functionally with PM, engineering, and design teams to formulate hypotheses and translate empirical research into actionable feature launches.
- Presented data-driven insights and interactive visualizations to executive leadership, directly shaping strategic roadmaps and resource allocation.
Senior Statistician
Westat
- Developed and validated small area estimation models through a Bayesian-based MCMC simulation study using RStan to produce adult literacy and numeracy skill estimation within each US county and state.
- Developed, trained, and validated conditional random forest classification models (i.e., cforest in R) for the National Cancer Institute to create a cost-effectively automated logical check process to identify possible data errors.
- Designed, collected, and analyzed the customer quality survey using regression and clustering analysis for the United States Patent and Trademark Office to evaluate the USPTO’s quality of service from the USPTO’s frequent customers.
- Performed data quality check, imputed missing data when necessary, and conducted feature selection through LASSO regression, stepwise regression, or other dimension reduction methods.
- Explored, analyzed, and interpreted the relationships and trends in data for various projects by using appropriate statistical models (M/ANOVA, generalized linear model, logistic regression, propensity matching, HLM, machine learning models, etc.).
- Performed sampling and weighting tasks for national projects (i.e., USDA’s summer food service program, AAU’s campus climate survey) and international projects (CDC’s population-based HIV assessments).
- Conducted clinical trial analysis for national analysis (i.e., NIH’s Adolescent Medicine Trials Network study, CDC’s intervention study of patient navigation for colonoscopy screening).
- Cooperated with the production team to create online tools for public use.
- Documented analysis procedure and findings using R Markdown.
- Visualized the analysis findings using creative graphs/plots in R and Python (i.e., sunburst, riverplot), and presented results to non-technical clients.

Project History
Real-time Inline Search Quality Measurement System
Meta AI Integration Evaluation in Search
My statistical modeling proved that most of the Meta AI usage in Search was "unintentional", which drove low perceived search usefulness and satisfaction among users. These findings directly guided leadership in changing the product direction from the Meta AI threadview to the blended view. I adopted intent-aligned trigger mechanisms, establishing foundational UX quality guardrails for generative AI across Meta.
