Project History
Mobile Payments Device
Led the introduction of a mobile payments device (like Square) to the South African market.
ZipZap (which was subsequently acquired) was a product we brought to South Africa, using Miura devices at the time and later Verifones. The device connected via Bluetooth to a cell phone to allow merchants to accept payments anywhere. I was the lead product manager on this product, working with R&D, design, marketing, and legal to ensure a successful product launch. The product grew to process over $20 million per year shortly after it’s release.
Fraud Prevention Dashboard and Reports
Led the design and development of the fraud prevention dashboard and reports that were instrumental in reducing fraud to negligible levels.
EFTPOS, which was subsequently acquired, processed more than $230 million per year. Even with this volume, the system I introduced reduced annual fraud losses to less than $100,000. The system withheld funds, triggered alerts, and reported on significant risks.
eCommerce Gateway
Led the team in designing and integrating all touchpoints to ensure a secure and user-friendly eCommerce gateway.
The organization’s eCommerce gateway processed hundreds of millions of dollars per year and millions of transactions. This gateway allowed customers to pay their bills during checkout at retail stores.
