WorkBoard's strategy execution platform powers the digital operating rhythm for companies around the globe, providing organization-wide clarity, alignment, and insights for growth. WorkBoard is the enterprise standard for OKRs and strategy execution for companies like Intel, Workday, VMware, IBM, and Microsoft.

As an engineering manager of the Prague office team of five software engineers, I reported directly to the US-based VP of engineering. I oversaw the product domain designated to drive the day-to-day execution of the company strategy. Besides managing the team, I created a sustainable feature development strategy while effectively removing technical debt. Here, I was also significantly exposed to the OKR methodology.

This is a global tenant experience platform solution. The product offers a unified solution for managing and using various building ecosystems.

It is built on PHP, Symfony, Docker, PostgreSQL, and Elasticsearch. It leverages the services and platforms of Google Cloud and Firebase. There are also supporting APIs written in Node.js and TypeScript.

During the first phase of my work on this product, I was a back-end developer building new features and fixing bugs. Refactoring a newsfeed component would be an example of project activity.

The concept was redesigned to accommodate growing traffic and to allow new features, such as filtering, to be introduced. I decoupled displaying and rendering portions from the actual content. The back end was changed from on-request processing to update preprocessing into the Elasticsearch database.

In the second phase, as a technology lead, I owned the technical architecture of the back-end microservice platform and native applications. The platform was designed on principles of DDD, TDD, and microservices. I managed 13 engineers in four development teams, one of which was completely outsourced.

This was an internal activity I developed for two companies. I migrated current projects to Docker while building a specialized DevStack to allow simple documentation and usage. Additionally, I built, documented, and mentored a continuous integration solution with testing, static analysis, coverage, automated security audits, and continuous delivery with ad hoc environments, single click deployments, and the tracking of environment versions. Gitlab and Gitlab CI were used as a platform for this CI/CD solution.

I created a similar migration in both Designeo and Spaceflow, although there were significant differences in approach and prioritization. In Designeo, there were dozens of smaller projects with a few big ones. The system was oriented to develop and bootstrap new projects and environments quickly. Spaceflow is a single product and was oriented on the scalability and sustainability of multiple services developed and enhanced over a long period of time.

A custom software platform with remote management used to showcase ideas for worldwide POS marketing. It was highly client-oriented development with strict deadlines for multinational brands.

As an example of additional participation, I worked on a video application to record applying makeup by a visual artist, where I developed a native iOS application using Swift. Lipstick vending machines and photo booths with integrated professional printing photo services had hardware integration I built.

I setup the main computer via Ansible and the processes used to maintain, configure, update or upgrade that set up. Next, I created the solution architecture and central API implementation in PHP and Symfony, which processed many sessions in its lifetime.

An online record-keeping system of club members, clubs, and sports federations associated with the Czech Sport Union and its sports facilities along with one million+ amateur athletes. It is used by hundreds of clubs in the Czech Republic. The system also includes reporting and a web portal to represent clubs and sports facilities to the public.

As a part of the initial development, I co-designed and implemented several back-end modules such as facilities management. During the long-term support with multiple change requests, I oversaw the migration of the project into Docker and upgraded it to PHP 7.

Originally developed as an online management system for one of the largest indoor tournaments, this system has evolved into a multi-purpose tournament tool. The system provides numerous modules containing a registration section for teams, entry fees and accommodation management, teams and roster management, and tracking of tournament progress, including statistics and standings.

I managed the technical design and implementation of the tournament match events module API (PHP, Symfony). This was the heaviest part and required a lot of code optimizations and writing of custom operations. I also built read optimizations such as targeted caching and infrastructure configuration to scale during peak traffic, most commonly occurring during the second and third days of the tournament.

Additionally, I created the back-end solution design, starting with a specialized tool and evolving it into a flexible and extensible system.

A portal to manage the lifecycle of supplier orders for the Bata shoemaker company.

The system was developed in PHP on Symfony with most server-side rendering UI. A few complex components on the front end were implemented in Angular. Part of the system was also a bidirectional integration with enterprise-grade ERP.

I managed the entire project from communication with the client, solution architecture, infrastructure setup, to implementation of the back end and front end.
