Mapgage

http://www.mapgage.com

Product pivot from drone data management to digitization of geographically distributed field operations.

Hired as a consultant on the opportunities of using drone data in port environments such that the drone data platform could create a competitive advantage with an industry vertical. I showed that relying solely on drones was insufficient and risky due to flight restrictions, that drones should be a means to an end, not an end. Through market exposure and analysis as well as opportunities, I proposed a strategy to develop the platform into a user-friendly tool for the digital transformation of geographically distributed field operations.

I was hired as managing director and given co-founder shares to drive product transformation while building market validation and traction. Mapgage now focuses on building datasets to transform field operation knowledge into data. That data associates with satellite (Landsat, Copernicus), drone aerials, IoT sensors, CADs, and blueprints to trigger field tasks.

Key accounts for which we have customized the platform are the cities of Rotterdam, Dordrecht, The Hague, and the dredging company with worldwide operations Boskalis. The platform is used as SaaS by UN Office for Project Services, Turner Construction, and Riyad metro.

Asset Condition Monitoring

https://boskalis.com/

Transformation of specialized processes requiring expert inspectors into a tool usable by all operations personnel.

Royal Boskalis had high immobilizations of small assets (<$1 million) among dredging and offshore projects around the world from the non-integration of those into their asset lifecycle management platform. Specialized inspectors would travel to project locations once a year on average.

Consequently, project requirements for small assets were very high in storage requirements to ensure continued operations. Damaged assets were put aside for months before evaluation and maintenance bills were emitted.

Ideation and product design were first to address the issues of the inspectors while extracting process knowledge. Having them onboarded into the product definition facilitated the creation of product requirements and dataset needs. Achieving on those issues, extreme attention was provided to UX and usability as the following milestones were to make the processes understandable by non-expert personnel.
