GR8PM
  • Created the curriculum and training content for project managers studying to take the PMI-ACP certification exam. All of the nearly 120 participants in my classes who took the exam passed on the first attempt.
  • Trained over 100 students in groups of 15-20 at a time.
  • Was invited by the Philadelphia PMI Chapter to present Agile framework practices for their professional development conference. I was in a 4-speaker panel and also gave a 30-minute presentation to the standing-room only crowd of about 350 people.
  • Wrote the chapter about Large Scale Scrum (LeSS) in "The Agile Almanac - Book 2," the Amazon best-selling book.
  • Contributed as an author to the chapters on Agile risk management and Agile budget management in "The Agile Almanac - Book 2," the Amazon best-selling book.

Mobile and Web Product Manager

2021 - 2022
Carrier, Inc.
  • Managed the system and user backlogs, balancing the need for functionality changes against the software and other infrastructure priorities. Collaborated weekly with development teams and customers who used the system.
  • Created end-user testing scripts, test cases, and training materials. This allowed more people to participate in UAT focused on specific functionality, reducing the time needed for the testing process by 30%.
  • Automated manual process steps that were creating errors with data entry. This reduced initial quality defects by 93% and applied rules to existing data for global remediation.
  • Drove the commercial API project to initial MVP. The product's primary function is to have a dynamic search capability across all products, which replaces the need to download multiple product datasheets.
  • Implemented process changes and automation tools within the product catalog to support bulk creation of new products and bulk editing of data for existing products. This reduced processing time across multiple products from days to hours.
  • Created detailed training materials on the overall product as an aid to the change management process. This enabled quick adoption of the new product and user feedback even before the go-live.

Internet Access for Rural Schools

Designed and implemented technology infrastructure to allow four rural school districts in Northeast Oregon access to the Internet.

Wallowa County, Oregon, is home to about 3,000 people spread across 9,000 square miles of mountain ranges and valleys. Existing telecommunications infrastructure allowed only one phone line per school ( around 200 students and staff each) for dial-up Internet.

Utilizing a new radio antenna set up for public service use (911 repeater, state patrol, fire service), we were able to link each school via microwave radio tower to broadband Internet. We used a federal government grant to fund 95% of the construction and implementation, so the districts had nearly zero cost.

We then used an ongoing federal program to provide Internet access to public schools to fund the maintenance and subscription costs of the services. The final costs to the schools were less than maintaining their original dial-up accounts.

Clarity implementation

Migration from a paper-based project management system to a fully integrated and automated software tool.

A large insurance company needed help updating its PMO. They were overloaded with work because most of the paper and approval flows were done with actual paper reports and requests.

Because of their insurance background, their choice of Clarity as a product was driven by the fact that their existing processes could be mapped and tailored directly into the software.

The project took just over nine months from concept to fully working, including Clarity timesheet integration into the HR system and financial reporting into the accounting system.

AMI Implementation

Integrated the Advanced Metering Management product for a large North American electric and gas utility.

Entergy is the last North American electric utility to implement a complete AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) project. My role was to lead the technical teams responsible for the AMM (Advanced Metering Management) product installation and configuration. At the close of the project, the AMM product collected data from over three million endpoints and successfully forwarded the data to all departments that needed to use it. Accounting/billing, customer service, work order management (WOMS), and outage detection and management were all separate integrations created for this project.

Product Information Management API

Created new PIM categorizations and classifications for 3,000 products and worked closely with the development teams to build an API around the new database.

As Product Manager of web and mobile, we had an opportunity to update the product classification system, which came from the need to streamline the process during a digital transformation.
The main part of the project was based on making the product catalog searchable to a much more detailed level than previously available. This new search capability was rolled out to distributors and resellers and will eventually make its way to consumer-level websites.
The project utilized a PIM infrastructure built into SAP and heavily invested in manufacturing and sales functions. Once the PIM was in place, the API was developed and customized using feedback from the developers and resellers.
