Freelancing as an Azure Developer

Microsoft Azure (formerly Windows Azure) is a cloud computing service created by Microsoft in 2010 for building, testing, deploying, and managing applications and services through Microsoft-managed data centers. Azure provides software as a service (SaaS), platform as a service (PaaS) and infrastructure as a service (IaaS) and supports many different programming languages, tools and frameworks, including Microsoft and third-party software and systems. Azure developers design software applications or databases to accomplish a business’ goals in relation to cloud computing, virtual servers, and web hosting using Microsoft Azure applications. Azure developers are subject matter experts on the Microsoft Azure platform and its frameworks, including .NET, have familiarity with one or more programming languages such as C++ or JavaScript, and usually work as part of a larger team of programmers, QA testers, and project managers to design new products, or scale existing solutions.

Freelance Azure developers can earn a salary between $15-$130 per hour, on average. As the market evolves and demand for Azure jobs increases, the Azure contractor hourly rate is likely to increase as well. Difference in freelance Azure developer rates are calculated based on engagement types, such as part-time or full-time, and location, such as on-site or remote.

How the Calculator Works

Toptal is the largest network of high-skilled freelancers in the world. We created this tool using our database of nearly ten thousand vetted freelancers. Data is updated daily, and excludes hourly rates that fall 2 standard deviations above or below the mean in order to remove outliers.

The Freelance Calculator lets you see how much you can earn as a freelancer, including what your hourly rate would need to be to match your current or desired salary based on the number of hours you work per week.
