  • Implemented the change initiative program and project management processes, improved the already existing risk program and project management process, and pushed to implement product management practices.
  • Improved the business-as-usual (BAU) processes by implementing new Confluence and Jira tools to adopt the new program and project management process across technology. The bank was using legacy project management tools.
  • Conducted IT infrastructure project and program management, datacenter transformation and migrations, datacenter build and operations delivery, and people management for a technical team of 40, along with stakeholder, budget, and risk management.
  • Introduced the Office 365 program rollout for 55,000 users, handled a Northwest infrastructure optimization project, an EOSL remediation program, project platform migrations from Windows 2003-2012, Solaris to Linux, and the HP firmware upgrade.

Project Manager

2012 - 2017
Wipro
  • Started as a network project manager and was promoted to take on the complete infrastructure build and migration projects. I handled a critical initiative of a cost of delivery optimization project. This new process has been standardized.
  • Optimized the operations delivery and business costs using techniques like shift left, alert optimization, hardware EOSL remediation, and infrastructure automation; the implemented process has been standardized.
  • Conducted the IT infrastructure project and program management.
  • Handled projects on datacenter migration, and datacenter build, built the support team after shift-left named SNOC team across all technologies, including NW, Wintel, database, VMware, backup, storage, and IBM MQ.
  • Acted as the manager of the team and was accountable for the management of 40 tech people.
  • Managed the manpower transition by acting as the transition infrastructure project manager. Handled the program COD optimization, operations streamlining, and SNOC (L1, L1.5) team creation.
  • Acted as the network build project manager with network build management responsibilities.

Network Admin and NOC Team Lead

2011 - 2012
CompuCom
  • Set up a team of 41 L1 network engineers in a dedicated managed services network operations center (NOC). Transitioned the onsite business to offshore and handled the incident, people, problem, configuration, and transition project management.
  • Transitioned the onsite business to offshore by preparing a roadmap. Set up the incident, problem, configuration, change management, and network troubleshooting processes to run the operations independently offshore.
  • Streamlined the alerts and processes to support the customer before transitioning from onshore to offshore. Supported critical business customers from offshore around the clock.

Assistant Manager and Shift Lead

2010 - 2011
Reliance Communications
  • Joined the team as a network assurance engineer and was promoted to Shift lead within four months due to excellent performance.
  • Set up the new customer onboarding process, including the charter, an onboarding roadmap, execution, and building infrastructure connecting customer sites to Reliance.
  • Handled the technical documentation and the handover to operations; followed the project through to closure.
  • Built the project process for onboarding new customers that has been standardized and is still in use.
  • Transitioned more than ten customers within a short tenure.

Network Engineer

2007 - 2010
Cable & Wireless plc
  • Joined as a field engineer and got promoted to the L1 network engineer within eight months. I built and led ten members' eyes on the glass monitoring team for the next eight months. Promoted to an L2 engineer in the network operations center (NOC).
  • Led the glass monitoring team, developed and documented SLAs for alerts, and set up the SLA reporting process. I also streamlined the monitoring in Cisco Smart.
  • Integrated and implemented a new S.M.A.R.T monitoring tool. Implemented B2B and B2C automation to generate tickets in Remedy, leading to a reduction in customer calls.
  • Handled the incident, problem, change, order, and service level agreement management, along with Cisco Network troubleshooting via routing and switching security.

Customer Service Executive

2006 - 2007
Tata E2E Servizsol Private Limited

  • Helped the process teams build the technical support team for the Tata Sky services product as the pilot technical member of Tata Sky.
  • Handled technical support process enhancement in the first job.

Project History

Program—Availability Zone Build

Attained infrastructure automation in Rakuten's public cloud ecosystem, streamlining the availability zone (AZ) build deployment to reduce deployment time. I deployed nine globally with IaaS computing, DBaaS, STaaS, EAAs, and LBaaS OneCloud services.

Rakuten OneCloud services is a public cloud service with nine availability zones deployed globally, including in the US, EU, and Asia, to support and extend Rakuten's eCommerce business in the respective regions.

DC Infra automation was achieved using Chef. Earlier, individual services were used to be deployed as stand-alone services. We improved automation by building a single automation code, reducing the timeline to construct a single availability zone. We have two different automation codes, one for the computing platform deployment and the other for network infrastructure deployment. The availability zone build starts with hardware procurement and rack and stack mount cabling as per the standardized architecture and continues to deploy computing Bare Metal (BMaaS) and VMware (VMaaS), DNS DHCP, IMS, Trident, monitoring, or basic services. We deploy the other services over the compute platforms like CaaS, LBaaS, STaaS, DBaaS, MONaaS, and EaaS OC portal.

COD Optimization and Operations Streamlining

Generated revenue in a business that was at a loss for the last three years by optimizing processes, operations delivery, data center infrastructure, and cost with the help of standard methods I developed.

Optimized the cost of delivery (COD) by left-shifting the work stack, automating Level 1 tasks, and streamlining operations by optimizing alert generation and people. This project aimed to reduce the COD or data center OPEX charges.

I reduced the COD by creating a service catalog to organize and categorize the tasks in Level 1, 1.5, 2, and 3 tasks in support. I also established a security and network operations (SNOC) team to left-shift all L1 tasks to this team by automating repetitive tasks and optimizing alerts to reduce unwanted tickets, which reduced the full-time equivalent count in each team (people optimization).

Using the effort-estimation method, a transition project plan, and a completed performance baseline, we reduced unwanted alerts by understanding the customers' business and business criticalities. We achieved business needs and requirements by lowering the high-cost FTE count in run teams by recruiting low-cost L1 resources, causing a drastic reduction in operational costs.

I handled a SNOC team of 50 team members along with two team leads. Today, the work includes people management; shift escalation management; daily, weekly, and monthly performance reporting reviews; and two team leads.

Data Center Migration

Migrated more than 200 servers from IBM LAN datacenter (DC) to Wipro Data Center in the US within six months. Two hundred servers hosted customers AI applications or engines, communicating with 40 other applications hosted locally.

Transitioned more than 200 servers with 30 to 40 interdependent applications. As the Move Group project manager, I transitioned the customer environment to the Wipro Data Center by preparing executive summary reports, including a project charter and project plans in layer one (L1), layer two (L2), and layer three (L3) phases of the project. The L2 project plans included minute details of the interdependencies of the application. By understanding the sizing, interdependencies, server types, and network communication with other servers, we gained insight into areas such as load balancers' requirements and gathering the ports that need to be allowed to enable communication over firewalls. The L3 execution project plan was created using the L2 details by gathering the minute details and time required to complete each task. After transitioning with proper sign-off from the test, project managers hand over the environment to the datacenter run teams for 24/7 support.
