Project History

Newborn Registration Application for the Government of Malawi

Launched and managed an MVP for a turnkey newborn registration app for the government of Malawi.

Managed a cross-functional team of over 20 members, with stakeholders represented from the government of Malawi, the government of Canada, the United Nations, and several private sector representatives.
The goal of this project was to develop an application that would allow for newborn registration in the country of Malawi in nine districts. This includes extremely remote locations without access to electricity, or wired internet. The challenge in this project was in creatively approaching the problem of having no electricity or wired internet, but still having to collect and relay the information to the appropriate parties electronically.
Not only that, but the platform also had to be scalable, able to integrate with other systems (for example local government systems being put in place from various sources), able to operate with very little to no direct electricity, able to be very easy to use (as the local operatives would ultimately be the ones using it), and more.
This project comprised a team in Canada (Montreal/Ottawa), a host of freelancers in Malawi, and the local team in Malawi, representing the several government entities that were impacted.

Tax Administration Solution for the Government of Liberia

Implemented and upgraded the tax administration system of Liberia.

Managed a cross-functional team to implement and upgrade the tax administration system of Liberia. This project was funded by the World Bank, supervised by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and the team comprised of members from Canada, the UK, Ethiopia, and Liberia. This was a part of a revenue agency modernization effort by the World Bank for countries in need.

Bike Sharing Platform for LINKA Lock

Launched and managed several releases of the multiple components comprising the bike sharing platform for LINKA Lock.

Managed a team of front- and back-end developers, testers, architects, and analysts to develop and launch several iterations of the bike sharing platform for LINKA Lock.
This platform had multiple components: A fleet dashboard (designed for fleet administrators to manage their fleets), a B2B application (designed to manage large-scale bike-sharing across a city), and a B2C application (designed for the end consumer in mind, which would allow the user to manage his own lock and share access to his lock through the application).
This project included a complete implementation from scratch of agile/scrum best practices, including but not limited to Jira setup, sprint planning, daily scrums, sprints, sprint reviews, and sprint retrospectives.
