GDPR Upgrade and Compliance Project

Oversaw the upgrade of the in-house commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) core banking application to include the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for several banking clients.

The upgraded platform was rolled out to all the respective banking clients, resulting in GDPR compliance, avoidance of regulatory fines, and preventing delays in implementation.

In a hybrid role of a scrum master and project manager, I played a pivotal role between the internal product teams, compliance team, and representatives of several banking clients by leading a series of workshops to ensure all the facets of GDPR were considered and accommodated. Also, I secured the timely delivery of the project by effectively mentoring and managing the development team through Agile lifecycle practices and using the agile project management tools, such as Team Foundation Server, now known as Azure DevOps Server, to groom and maintain the progress on the user stories.

We delivered the project within the designated budget of $1 million by effectively tracking, monitoring, and grooming the backlog to ensure everyone had a clear view of the MVP. The team didn't waste any time or effort on producing unwarranted features.

The project was a tremendous success as it resulted in timely compliance that saved the banks reputational damage and millions of dollars in fines that would have ensued if there had been any delay and non-compliance.

Data Center Transformation Program

Led a highly publicized and mission-critical banking digital data center transformation project that spanned over two years and had a budget of $300 million.

In this challenging role, I ensured seamless non-disruptive execution of the migration by collaborating closely with the executives and managers from 12 different business units. I effectively managed a culturally diverse team of 50 technical resources, including business analysts, technical architects, technical SMEs, and geographically dispersed administrators, to migrate 50 mission-critical applications from the old to the newly built data center. We successfully delivered the respective migration phase within the designated budget of $10 million by closely tracking, reporting, and collaborating with stakeholders at all levels, including, but not limited to, senior executives. Finally, I introduced practical and out-of-box measures such as, but not limited to, getting pre-approved blanket purchase orders in place to avoid time delays in logistical procurements.

Business Lending Capability Enhancement

Spearheaded and delivered a time-critical business lending enhancement project to increase the revenue under the small business domain by 20% and provide a competitive edge over industry leaders.

In this highly-focused and time-sensitive project, I effectively managed two delivery squads as a release train engineer to deliver completely new functionality to enable the small business owners faster loan application processing for borrowings worth under $2 million in value.

In order to meet the record timeline for delivery of this project, I introduced pragmatic measures, such as facilitating out-of-turn release cycles and conducting daily standup with delivery teams, product owners as well as a business sponsor to ensure fast removal of impediments and to effectively communicate daily proceedings to all the senior executives.

These practical measures have ensured the successful delivery of the project within a three-and-a-half week duration and well within the $1 million allocated budget to enable the bank to introduce the new functionality to a large audience in a broker event.
