Work Experience

Embedded Systems Designer

2015 - 2017
SimWave RF & Microwave Design LLC
  • Designed microcontroller boards for wireless signal processing devices and created the schematics and PCB layout for these and other devices.
  • Wrote bare-metal firmware in C to control RF devices, LCDs, and keypads.
  • Wrote software in Python to control embedded devices and acquire data from instruments. This included graphical user interfaces distributed with products and ones for in-house use during testing and calibration of products.
Technologies: Electronics, Python, EDA, Embedded C, Embedded Systems, Firmware, Object-oriented Programming (OOP), Prototyping, Schematics, Instruments, Testing, Debugging, Troubleshooting, SCPI, Tkinter, Git, PCB Layout, Instrumentation, MPLAB, Windows

Embedded Systems Designer

2006 - 2015
Q-Filter Products
  • Designed microcontroller boards for controlling RF devices. Drew schematics and laid out the PCBs for these and RF circuits.
  • Wrote embedded C firmware for controlling various peripherals.
  • Wrote GUI software to control and acquire data from instrumentation, namely network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and oscilloscopes, to enable computer-controlled testing and calibration of RF devices.
Technologies: Embedded Systems, Firmware, C, EDA, Visual Basic 6 (VB6), Prototyping, Schematics, Instruments, Testing, Debugging, Troubleshooting, Subversion (SVN), SCPI, PCB Layout, Instrumentation, Embedded C, MPLAB, Windows

Tunable Active Bandpass Filter

Equipment that eliminates interference in RF communications. It can be controlled via Ethernet, USB, or its built-in display and keypad.

I designed the microcontroller board and other digital circuitry, laid out some of the PCBs, and wrote the firmware. I also wrote a Python GUI, which can be used to control the device.
