Dish Reservation

https://reservation.dish.co/
Dish Reservation is a restaurant reservation system developed by Hospitality Digital, a start-up company founded by Metro AG to deliver innovative solutions to the hospitality industry. It allows customers to book tables for a specific date and time, streamlining the dining experience and optimizing seating capacity for restaurants.

Integrations with tools like Google Maps maximize customer reach. With DDD and customer needs in mind, I decomposed the monolithic application into independently deployable microservices. I taught a team of 10 people DevOps and Team Topologies principles to reduce time to market and cycle time. Additionally, to implement new features, I refactored the Java codebase to split the old JSP front end and enable the migration for a React-based redesign. This way, I helped reduce system latencies by 85%, leading to faster response times for both restaurateurs and guests. Additionally, I decreased the mean time to detect errors by 90% through effective monitoring and alerting, ensuring the smooth operation of the tool.

These improvements resulted in increased customer satisfaction, as evidenced by a net promoter score increase of over 25 points, reaching a new all-time high in customer satisfaction.

Customer Risk Scoring

A serverless application for calculating the risk level of customers, in which my primary responsibility was the architecture of this project, and I also helped with back-end development and DevOps. The risk evaluation is necessary to prevent money laundering, terrorism financing, human trafficking, and organized crime.

SaaS Review

A SaaS review catalog based upon ISO 25000 and other software quality frameworks. The review was conducted at a bank and resulted in over 50 proposed improvements. I was the inventor and conductor of this review. The catalog became a new Deloitte asset and was used in multiple proposals.

Refugee Data Exchange

A Java EE-based data exchange solution between government agencies. The solution supported the integration of over 5,000 refugees and was used as a template for other projects.

I was the main architect and developer of this project. In the second half of the project, I used DevOps practices to reduce the change fail percentage by 72% and improved lead time by 86%.

Schmoeker

https://github.com/torbenmoeller/Schmoeker
Schmöker is an app that allows you to subscribe to your favorite web feeds. It supports the most common web formats like RSS and Atom. It lets you manage your web feeds easily. It was the final project for my Udacity Nanodegree, sponsored by Google.

Supply Chain Management

An integration of a third-party supply chain management software with SAP. The software was event-driven. Every update was written into a message queue in Apache Kafka and used to sync both systems. In certain intervals, the planning software was used to generate manufacturing plans to coordinate the production of parts for electric vehicles.
