The most amazing...

...project I've worked on is a data exchange system for a German government agency. This system supported the integration process of over 5,000 refugees.

  • Senior Consultant

    2019 - 2021
    • Led a team of 13 people in developing and deploying a software product on GCP in under six months for a bank by using serverless microservice architecture and DevOps principles. This was the fastest go-live of a cloud system for this customer.
    • Proposed over 50 improvements to the SaaS ecosystem of a central bank by inventing and performing a SaaS review catalog.
    • Trained over 50 people in DevOps basics by creating and performing the Deloitte DevOps bootcamp.
Technologies: Cloud Architecture, Java, Spring, DevOps, Scrum
  • IT Consultant

    2015 - 2019
    ITech Progress GmbH
    • Led a team of ten people in developing and maintaining a software solution for data exchange between government agencies, which supported the integration of over 5,000 refugees and asylum seekers into the German society.
    • Improved lead time by 86% by implementing DevOps practices into the development process.
    • Reduced change fail percentage by 72% through automation and standardization of the delivery process with Jenkins and Maven.
    Technologies: Java, Java EE, Jenkins
  • Research Scientist

    2014 - 2015
    University of Mannheim
    • Published paper "fundamental realization strategies for multi-view specification environments".
    • Maximized use of renewable energies by researching energy adaptive data centers in a smart city (research project DC4Cities of the EU).
    • Published paper "increasing data center renewable power share via intelligent smart city power control".
    Technologies: Spring, Java, Angular, TypeScript
  • Software Engineer | Student

    • Mentored five new trainees by giving support during onboarding and helping in software development.
    • Automated the gathering, merging, and duplicate removal of customer contact information in Microsoft Exchange. The data was then used to send out Christmas cards and presents.
Technologies: .NET, C#, Visual Studio, Microsoft Team Foundation Server

  • Customer Risk Scoring

A serverless application for calculating the risk level of customers. Risk evaluation is necessary to prevent money laundering, terrorism financing, human trafficking, and organized crime. My primary responsibility was the architecture of this project, and I also helped with back-end development and DevOps.

  • Supply Chain Management

An integration of a new supply chain management software. The solution uses a microservice architecture with Kubernetes and Kafka.

As a scrum master, I supported in working out over 100 improvements of the project process and inter-team communication.

  • Refugee Data Exchange

A Java EE-based data exchange solution between government agencies. The solution supported the integration of over 5,000 refugees and was used as a template for other projects.

I was the main architect and developer of this project. In the second half of the project, I used DevOps practices to reduce the change fail percentage by 72% and improved lead time by 86%.

  • Schmoeker

Schmöker is an app to subscribe to your favorite web feeds. It supports the most common web formats like RSS and Atom. It lets you manage your web feeds easily. It was the final project for my Udacity Nanodegree sponsored by Google.

  • SaaS Review

A SaaS review catalog based upon ISO 25000 and other software quality frameworks. The review was conducted at a bank and resulted in over 50 proposed improvements. I was the inventor and conductor of this review. The catalog became a new Deloitte asset and was used in multiple proposals.
