Work Experience

Technical Business Analyst

2023 - 2023
SiriusXM
  • Joined as a business analyst/PM to clarify requirements and define the roadmap for a complete overhaul of the organization's audio/video streaming services. Created a detailed product roadmap and set of milestones within the first month of engagement.
  • Unblocked the engineering team, highlighting several urgent risks and dependencies that needed to be addressed ASAP to ensure the timely delivery of a working production MVP.
  • Worked closely with product leadership to ensure that critical features were completed and less urgent ones were deprioritized in the short term to meet deadline requirements.

Project Manager

2023 - 2023
Crystal Corp.
  • Joined the team to assess issues with the software development process, make necessary changes, and work with the engineering team to ensure delivery of our commitments.
  • Made adjustments based on the initial assessment, and by the end of the engagement, the team had a new agile sprint planning process, well-documented sprint goals, and a quarterly roadmap that defined the product direction.
  • Leaned heavily into the product management process to narrow our efforts and define the highest-value deliverables. This investment led to a clear set of goals for the company and allowed us to focus on the projects that mattered most.

Software Engineering Manager

2020 - 2023
Ridgeline
  • Joined in the very early stages of the product and expanded my organization from 4 developers on one team to 18 developers, QA engineers, and project managers across two teams. Directly managed both teams to deliver features for our live customers.
  • Built a scalable infrastructure to store, modify, and access complex financial instrument and pricing data models to support downstream components and customer workflows. Also integrated with third-party vendors to ingest this data in real time.
  • Collaborated with our operations team to define the organization-wide agile planning and tracking framework and coached other engineering managers throughout the adoption process.
  • Facilitated the intern project content as the intern program manager. Paired interns with full-time developers and final presentations.

Software Engineering Manager

2016 - 2020
Intel
  • Expanded the team from an initial size of two engineers to 16 developers and QA engineers to take on the increased scope. Managed both local and remote direct reports.
  • Collaborated with hardware and software architecture leads to design graphics driver solutions for the secure display of protected media content in a wide array of use cases and hardware platforms.
  • Designated as an agile coach for an engineering organization of 150+ developers. Worked with scrum teams struggling or in difficult situations (cross-geo collaboration, etc.). Coordinated with team leads to ensure alignment on scaled agile solutions.
  • Served as agile coach to organize and lead formal training for developers, scrum masters, product owners, and program managers as part of the transition. Collaborated with program management to unify milestone tracking and planning process (scrum of scrums) and tools (Jira).

Software Engineer

2012 - 2016
Citrix
  • Joined an early-stage startup called Framehawk in 2012, where I worked as part of an agile team on a large project with many moving parts and technologies (C, C++, Objective-C, Java, PHP, SQL).
  • Developed native iOS and macOS apps that allowed users to interface with both cloud-based and on-premise enterprise server instances across high-loss, high-latency networks without compromising performance or security.
  • Retrained as one of ten employees after Citrix acquired Framehawk in January 2014, and the core Framehawk engineering team joined the company after the acquisition.
  • Collaborated with Citrix engineers during the acquisition phase to create solution architecture designs and implementation plans for both short-term and long-term integrations.
  • Led technical presentations of the software at events for both engineers and customers, as well as demonstrated the product for Citrix's chief executives during the integration phase.

Software Engineer

2008 - 2011
Cygnet Software
  • Participated in large and small agile teams to develop an oil and gas measurement (SCADA) platform to safely monitor pipeline and well systems.
  • Developed a mapping solution integrated with ArcGIS to track and display real-time measurement information overlaid onto custom mapping data.
  • Modified and maintained large legacy codebases to address bugs and ensure feature parity with newer environments.

Coach of Agile Transformation for VPG Organization at Intel

Identified the need for a unified development methodology for 150+ engineers, worked with leadership to define a scaled agile framework, and implemented the framework while leading agile training for teams across multiple geographies.

The VPG organization within Intel was responsible for developing graphics driver software and was made up of nearly 20 distinct engineering teams, each with its own planning process and project tools. As an engineering manager of one of these teams, it was clear that the organization needed a unified development framework to more efficiently plan and track progress toward our goals.

I worked with leadership to define a development methodology (Scaled Agile Framework) and a standardized set of project planning tools (Jira, BigPicture) that would improve project estimates and provide better visibility into status, cross-team dependencies, etc. I implemented this framework across all teams, ensuring its adoption was successful.

Intern Program Manager at Ridgeline

Managed a 10-week summer intern program, adding value to the product while successfully converting >80% of interns to full-time hires.

As manager of Ridgeline's intern program, my primary charter was talent identification and retention, with a secondary goal of completing projects that added meaningful value to the product within a 10-week timeline. The most critical pathway for achieving these goals was to connect individually with each person, understand their strengths and weaknesses, and guide them in the direction they could have the greatest impact.

Key Responsibilities
Defined the intern teams (3-4 developers each), facilitating project content and sponsorship from full-time developers. Paired interns with mentors at the company. Directly managed half of the intern cohort (around 8-10 developers), and hosted final project presentations to the rest of the company.

Key Results
Successfully converted >80% of interns to full-time hires for both 2020 + 2021. Every intern team produced a deliverable that added value to the product, many of which evolved into major, long-term features.

Third-party Integration for Real-time Financial Data Stream

Developed an integration with a third-party data provider to stream real-time stock price data to provisioned users.

To provide customers with the data required to make decisions about proposed trades quickly, we partnered with a third-party data provider to stream prices into the system and display them at relevant points in the application. This project was particularly challenging due to the data stream's scale and the strict licensing agreement with the stock exchanges that dictate which specific software users are entitled to see this data. My role was to manage the development team building this integration, interface with representatives from the third-party data provider, and ensure that our solution passed the licensing agreement audit upon delivery of the product.

Key Results
Analyzed available third-party interfaces to assess security risks and technology fit and determined the optimal infrastructure to meet our functional and performance objectives. Designed a solution to support user requirements and adhere to our license agreement with the data provider. Built interfaces to provide access to this data for other product teams in the organization so it could be leveraged for additional use cases. Estimated timeline and delivered successfully.

Property Management

Involved in real estate investment and property management of units.

In addition to my day job, I am an investor in and property manager of multiple rental units. I have collaborated with my business partner to acquire the units, perform renovations, screen tenants and maintain the properties.
