Project History

Subsystem Integration SDK for IoT

I set up and launched a project team that created a new IoT integration method and SDK for 3rd-party developers. This product topped our number one competitor and created a strategic ecosystem of developers beyond our company.

From concept to MVP release, I launched and managed a cross-functional scrum team to create a unique subsystem integration method and SDK. The product was strategic in multiple ways. The user experience was simple and recognized as better than our number one competitor. With this product, we were able to create an ecosystem of developers outside of our company. Even non-developers could finally extend our building automation workstation to include any IoT device, or another subsystem, at significantly low development cost.
The team included remote team members and was integrated with a 150 person global project. There are many things I am proud of about this project, product, and team. Some of my contributions to this success story included the following: Worked closely and iteratively with the product owners to ensure the customer's needs were well understood by the team. Created high-level product goals using a business model canvas and value proposition model. Built a key user group to help steer the product in the right direction, increment by increment. Utilized a "walking skeleton" to prove out the concept architecture and reduce technical risk, and inspired a high level of ownership and engagement within the team.
