When a person takes a mortgage, they offer their house as collateral in case they default. The same process applies to banks on a much larger scale with hundreds of millions worth of collateral every day for clients like Citi and Deutsche Bank.

I built a React, Node.js, and Mongo website for banks to post their auctions. The main differentiator from existing platforms is the maximized use of Google Maps. We get the coordinates of real estate properties from the national database provided by a government agency and convert them from Stereo 70 to coordinates that can be displayed on Google Maps. This offers unprecedented details to potential buyers.
