Continuous Delivery of Java Application on AWS Cloud Services

A Java-based application serving thousands of banking customers and requiring continuous integration and delivery in a short time. The existing on-premise application was scalable but sometimes not reliable and time-consuming. Management had to manage development, security, and operation teams. The client wanted fewer overheads for managing current infrastructure and day-to-day operations, keeping security in mind. We have designed and implemented a complete end-to-end continuous delivery pipeline with security automation. It resulted in daily 3-4 in-place updates in the application, less overhead, higher time savings, and upskilling of existing team members.

Multi-cloud App Migration and Modernization

This project demonstrates the experience of migrating on-premise applications to multi-cloud environments, modernizing the application, converting them to containers, and running them under multi-cloud architectures.

AWS EBS Root Volume Disaster Recovery, Monitoring, and Notification

The company recently migrated its entire workload to the AWS Cloud. The workload has been running on the EC2 virtual machine where the application server is configured, and the web application is accessed through this server. They have to configure the monitoring system with AWS CloudWatch and integrate an SNS notification, through which cloud engineers receive a notification whenever a system check failed status for an EC2 machine occurs.

Once a cloud engineer received a System failure notification in an email, it was about EC2 machine root volume got corrupted due to some wrong system patching, and it got a system check instance failed via a monitoring system.

RTO and RPO requirements:
To maintain business continuity, the requirement to maintain an RPO and RTO ratio is most critical and essential during a systems failure.
RTO = 10 minutes is the system's downtime and acceptable recovery time after a failure.
RPO = With the initial 05 minutes of downtime, the system should be able to get back and recover the backup within the last 05 minutes.

High Demand Web Application on AWS using Autoscaling, CloudFront, and DynamoDB

Implementing an application that needs to support the high demand of a large number of users accessing it simultaneously. This application has been used in a large conference with more than 10,000 people, in-person and online, with participants from all over the world.

This event was broadcasted online and in person, and ten vouchers were drawn for three Cloud certifications raffle prizes. At that moment, more than 10,000 people in the audience registered their emails to guarantee their participation in the raffle.

I used AWS Elastic Beanstalk services to deploy the web application, DynamoDB to store emails, and CloudFront to cache static and dynamic files in an edge location close to the user.

I can see how powerful AWS Elastic Beanstalk is in just a few clicks. I deployed my web application in the AWS environment with the configured automatic EC2 Auto Scaling and Elastic Load Balancing.

Recruitment Process Automation Using SharePoint

The automation of an HR department's recruitment process using SharePoint was completed on time and within budget, meeting the department's needs and saving them time and effort.

The project team comprised a project manager, a SharePoint developer, an HR representative, and an IT specialist. The project manager created a detailed project plan and tracked progress closely. The SharePoint developer worked closely with the HR representative to ensure the project met their needs. The IT specialist provided technical support for the project, which was approved by the CEO, CFO, CIO, and HR Director. The project was considered closed when all of the criteria had been met.

RESULTS
• Increased efficiency: The HR department has saved time and effort with the automated recruitment process.
• Improved accuracy: The department can now evaluate all applicants fairly and consistently.
• Reduced costs: Expenses associated with hiring new employees dropped.

Leave Travel Application Automation Using SharePoint Forms

The automation of leave travel applications using SharePoint forms was completed on time and within budget, meeting the organization's needs, saving them time and effort, and reducing associated costs.

Here are some of the steps involved in automating leave travel applications:
1. Create a SharePoint list to store the leave travel application data.
2. Create a SharePoint form to collect said data.
3. Develop a workflow to process the data.
4. Configure the SharePoint list and form to work with the workflow.
5. Train users on how to use the SharePoint list and form.

Automation of Limit Enhancements Application for Trading

The process automation of applying for limit enhancements for trading was completed in six months within a $10,000 budget.

The team consisted of a project manager, SharePoint developer, back-office developer, and user acceptance tester. The project's scope included creating a web service in .NET to integrate SharePoint with the back-office system, SharePoint forms for users to apply for limit enhancements, and a workflow to automate limit enhancements approval.

Document Hub Implementation Using SharePoint

A project aiming to implement SharePoint as a document hub for the organization. The project's scope involved creating a central location for storing all of the organization's documents and implementing document management features, collaboration tools, and reporting capabilities.

CHALLENGES
• Securing the document library to meet compliance requirements.
• Training users on how to use the new document management system.
• Integrating the document library with the organization's existing systems.

RESULTS
• Centralized the storage location for all of the organization's documents.
• Improved document management with implemented features like version control, document tracking, and document classification.
• Increased document collaboration with tools, such as document sharing, commenting, and discussion boards put in place.
• Enabled the identification of improvement areas with the implemented reporting capabilities for tracking the document library's usage.

BOD and EOD Process Documentation with SharePoint

A project supporting IT to maintain beginning-of-day (BOD) and end-of-day (EOD) processes using interactive SharePoint forms for documentation.

We created a central repository for all BOD and EOD documentation in SharePoint and interactive SharePoint forms for collecting related data. Next, we automated data collection by creating workflows and used SharePoint documentation to provide user guidance. Finally, we trained IT staff on using the SharePoint forms, workflows, and documentation.

Ticket Management System Using SharePoint

A ticket management system that we built and automated using SharePoint, which saved IT staff time and effort.

We created a central location for storing all tickets in SharePoint. We added fields to the ticket list to capture information such as ticket type, priority, description, assigned-to, and due date. Next, we developed workflows to automate tasks and trained IT staff on how to use the new ticket management system. IT staff efficiency increased through the automation of the following tasks:
• Assigning tickets to the appropriate IT staff member based on the ticket type.
• Sending email notifications to the ticket requester when a ticket is assigned, updated, or closed.
• Generating reports on the ticket volume, statuses, and resolution time.
