Project Prisma

Led product development from idea to beta release in 13 months reaching the target market of over 3.2 million users.

Prisma sought to solve the teacher evaluation problem in K12 education. Most school districts were still using pen and paper to complete teacher evaluations. As a result, they were inefficient, slow, and unorganized. Prisma was a responsive web solution that worked both on and offline and allowed administrators to view the progress of all evaluations, easily switch between subjects, and give all personas the visibility they needed in the process.

The rapid development of Prisma in a very competitive market led to the acquisition of more than one competitor.

ABS Product Leadership

Installed new product methodology and led the product team, including building a roadmap for a suite of 11 digital products.

As the newly created product team leader, I installed a product framework where none previously existed. This included new tools for road mapping, project management, customer support, and integration points, among all. The development effort was split among a small group of internal developers and several vendors with little or no oversight. I took over relationship management with vendors and the internal team to align development work with the roadmap. In addition, mentoring product managers was a large part of this effort as the organization had no product presence previously. One key product was JourneyMaker, which was built several years prior but had not been maintained or enhanced. I worked with one of our junior project managers to interview the market, gather requirements, and build the roadmap for the future development of this product. After a gap analysis, we had a second product, which I determined was 85% identical with a lower number of users. The roadmap included moving those features from the gap analysis to JournMaker and sunsetting the second product.
